Did anyone know that the song Really Reffered to Gang Violence.

I mean most of the Lyrics did.

You have to show them that your Really not scared Your Playing with your Life this ain't no Truth or Dare.
They'll kick and they'll beat you and they'll tell you its fair So beat it"

Another One I noticed was "So them how rock it all thats right. It doesn't matter whose wrong or right."

"There out to Get you better leave while you can. Don't wanna be a boy wanna be a man."

Infact in the Music Video theres a Fight between two gangs that look like Vanilla Ice Wanna be's

I remember it when it first came out the video for the song had street gang members squaring up to each other.

One of them had a white suit on  That's the 80's for you though.

I like the song. I always thought of "Beat It" as a tribute to; 'The Westside Story'. Cool riff by E.V.H. ;)

Ranchgal, what's up girl?!! I actually had to watch Westside Story in my English class. It was during the whole Romeo and Juliet topic. We had to play the parts in class by reading out loud, since those cats back then spoke the 'proper' english. The teacher, to make the class and story more interesting, showed us the West.....film. Anyway, I thought the movie was good, not the Warriors street fighting, but good, more of a Sesame Street dance-off fighting. :D

Oh Lions ORC--I love your violin!!
What a neat kick!!!

Yes, West Side STory really was an American Romeo and Juliet, but it did represent alot of the gang sentiment on the streets of NY, in its day.
Officer Krupke--I can so see Ajax YELLING that one!! LOL

That and COOL, I can see Swan and Snow doing that one, instead of Ice.

That's funny Ranchgal :D , I can see The Warriors walking on the street lowering their bodies, snapping their fingers and doing the SPRING (poiiiiinngg) jump.........chaaaa!

You know, speaking of gangster musicals, how about Guys and Dolls? Now, I can see lights diming at the park, the spotlight hitting Ajax, and him looking at the girl officer straight in the eye and singing.........."So they call you LADY LUCK, but there is room for doubt, at times you have a very unlady wa".................. :-s oh, huh, yeah! sorry......I think I got a little into character.

surprising no one mentioned the warriors reference in beat it. been a while since I seen the video but didn't it have the leader come down on a lift or something?
