And the first time Pete smashed his guitar was actually by accident after lifting the guitar too high and breaking it on an arch in the ceiling.

in relation to the pete townsend thing the swedish band roxette wrote the song "i like the sound of crashing guitars" in respect of the likes of pete townsend,steve marriot etc etc etc.
