Ha, nearly as stupid as me, my first single was 'the Baha Men'. First album was 'Are you Experienced' though so I kinda redeemed myself.

S-Club 7?!?!?!?! YUCK!!!!
Scurvy Dog wrote: Aside from 45s and "little kid" records, the first album I think I bought was the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack at a used goods store, sometime around 1980-81 when I was 10 or 11 years old. I bought the Grease soundtrack shortly thereafter at the mall.

And both of those were indeed on vinyl. That was before CDs and casette tapes were still the new thing.

Man, I miss the sound of vinyl. Digital music is great for clarity, but you lose out on the warmth and fullness of the sound.
When my parent's used to own a record player...I loved listening to Saturday Night Fever! That is one of the best records/CDs/Cassette ever! I miss listening to vinyl...trying to get the needle on the first song was always a hassle but it was such a classic memory! However, I can't believe the first CD I owned was Puff Daddy: All About the Benjamins ::)...Rap/Hip-Hop isn't even my "thang" anymore...the funnier part about this: i don't even own the CD anymore
The first cassette I owned was either TLC CrazySexyCool or The Bodyguard Soundtrack...I forgot which one I bought first

I didnt buy much as a youngster, as i had older relatives who would tape their albums for me or i would sit in front or the radio with my finger on the record button, waiting for my favourite track in the top 40 chart count down.  The first albums i bought was "number of the beast" by iron maiden and "street sounds" by break machine.  Breakdance was the big thing at that time.  I think the first single i bought was "step off" by grand master Mel and the furious five (or was it grandmaster flash? i always got those 2 mixed up).

The last album i bought was "milk teeth" by a punk band called Patchwork grace.
