Racism?!
Racism?!
I think they have some type of rascism in the game. Have you notice if you play Cochise or Cleon the scouts on the streets are african american? If you play someone like Cowboy or Swan all the warrior scouts are now Caucasian. This might be a coincedence that this was planted in the game. I don't like it that this was done. They should have African american scout patroling along with Causcasian scout no matter who you play.
Try it. Start the game over and play someone like Cochise and you'll notice that all the african american scouts are on the streets but if you play Swan, Cowboy or Ajax all causcasian patrols will be on the streets.

Re: Racism?!
Well congratulations 4 your eye!!!
I don't just think it's some type of racism, it's simply the game-software way of reading its data ( or something similar, no doubt Scurvy Dog explained it better than me... I forgot that stuff!!!
)
Anyway The Warriors Game is more and more an inextinguishable source of surprises!!!
Again, very good find!!! 8)

Re: Racism?!
I agree, they probably couldn't afford the time or effort to re-skin those scouts. Lazy Programming indeed.Scurvy Dog wrote: That sounds more like lazy programming than intended racism. Those are literally called "skins" in programming, because they are placed on a character like a skin - whether its human skin, animal skin, or otherwise. Because Cochise is African-American, the program may "read" his skin and adjust the patrols accordingly. It would have added to the cost of the game to make the random characters multiracial.

Re: Racism?!
This isn't an instance of racism but there most definatley is. When playing in rumble play as or against the Satan's Mothers with a gang with at least one black member when doing this you will occasionaly hear a Mother drop an "N" bomb. This is the only all white gang that I've heard make that remark.

Re: Racism?!
yeah i think it was, but in gang movies or games, they are always different cultures. i dont see it as racism i see it as maybe trying to point a point across in gang warfare and stuff i wudnt say racism. like the movie scum if anyones seen it thats trying to gt a point acrossScurvy Dog wrote: Yes, that would be racism. Do they do the same thing against whites when you go to Harlem, or Spanish Harlem? It's been over a year since I played the game.
Now that you mention that, wasn't Rockstar accused of racism for GTA 3, on a mission where you have to kill all the Haitians, or something like that?

Wow, I never paid any attention to this. If anything, I always thought that when they were all toghether they were all mixed. If you ever get some still shots of it, you should post it.

Re: Racism?!
I've never heard that, and I'm thinking you might have misheard something. Not even in Manhunt, where they included Nazi's did they risk using the "N" word or any similar terms.flew to high wrote: This isn't an instance of racism but there most definatley is. I don't know exactly how offensive this is or was since you don't really hear it much anymore. But some of the black gang members (even in gangs with white teammates) have a line like "Take your honky friends and get the **** out of Dodge", and honky was an insult used by black people against white.

Wow, I never heard that either. As I have also never heard of the Honky insult.eliminator1 wrote:I've never heard that, and I'm thinking you might have misheard something. Re: Racism?!
Far as I know, there are five soldiers who use the Honky insult, all with the same voice used. The Panzers leader, a black Turnbull, a Bopper, a black Saracen and a Van Cortland Ranger. Find any of these in the rumble mode selection screen, the quote comes up quite often when you come to any of these.
Re: Racism?!
It is not racism just because there are different colored patrollers doesnt mean anything and if it stays the same it still doesnt mean anything it just means their patrolling nothing more nothing less. And if you notice in the game the affilated gang members change. Even it was racism it was in 1979 the game is based in 1979 and everything in the game is 1979 based. So get over it. If you dont like it then dont play it. There is no need to get all symbolic over this "oh i think their being racist" just get over it and move on....
