what do the letters mean when you replay levels?

sorry if this has been asked before, i searched and found nothing.

when you go back to replay levels, letters appear that you can choose from when your about to choose the level you wanna replay, like A,B, and C. anyone know what the significance of these letters are?

I think that just denotes which part of the level you want to play. A being Level 1 Part 1, B being Level 1, Part 2 and so on.

Yea it means the different parts of the level like the furies level. A would be the chase B would be the second chase and C would be the big fight at the end. Just an example maybe it isn't the exact level parts but only an example.

thanks alot guys. i would have checked for myself, but my ps2 has been broken for like 2 weeks now and i just thought of it a few days ago
