In the game you can do graffiti. They called a throwup a burner. A burner is a complex form of graffiti, it means to burn somone as in.. Hmm, well if you went to a train yard to paint and you wanted to "Burn" the best writer in the yard you gotta do somthin like this.
This is a throwup
I am glad I posted this.

I'm so sure why you're glad you posted this. Don't get me wrong it's an interesting piece of information.
Rockstar didn't pay much attention to details on the game. This is just another example of something they didn't pay attention to.
You're getting far too worked up about it

Yeah Rockstar isn't all about the fine details have you ever played the GTA games talk about lazy workmanship. But thats to be expected because they are always rolling out great titles.

I am not really "Getting worked up". I just found it funny and thought I would post it. Since this is a graffiti thread related thread, I found this on the Internet - When graffiti artist Cope2 (also know as Fernando Carlo) talks about his beginnings back in the late 70s you're transported to scenes of The Warriors-young urban guys riding empty subway cars in the dead of a New York night.

Some very interesting information indeed, good find Newfie! But I also agree with KTR, Rockstar did a pretty crappy job on certain aspects of the game, but overall it was a very well-made, fun game that was loyal to the movie.

rockstar wudnt pay attemtion to tagging etc, it was a game about violence and gangs, not tagging, there is a level where gangs make a piece the first high hats level, that was good enough for a game like that,

ok so theres like three levels where the main goal is tagiing
the one where your rembrandt and go round tagging over the destroyers tags still have choice of beating guys up
the first hi-hat level and even then you get to beat them up
and all city and still able to beat them up
in every level there is always the chance of beating people up thats what it is its just some levels have a main objective of tagging with an option of kicking butt

I can't agree with first post! First, graffities in the 70's did not have these kind of styles (wildstyle for example). In the game is '78. and '79. year, so go read articles and watch videos about graffiti culture in New York at that time. People had respect for that style in real life which we can clearly see in the Warriors game. Graffiti artists were drawing throw-ups - their name, color fill, shadow, stroke and that's it! They could do that in 5 min. They didn't care so much for style 'cause it was only matter to make your mark everywhere you went so people could know who was there. That's my opinion beacuse I've learned a lot from graffities.

You could argue doing thief gangs "signature" on another turf is "burning" the other gang for letting them do so???
