Voice Acting...a bit of a let down?

After seeing all these trailers with Cyrus' real voice (or what sounds REALLY close to it) it is a bit weird to hear the crummy Luther voices and the odd sounding Swan.
I wonder why they couldn't get the real actors to do the voices? Of the surviving cast, I am sure some interest would be there.
Rockstar always has top talent for its GTA series, it's just weird that when they have a licensed game, they chose to go with other voices rather than the real thing. Oh well, I am sure the game will be fine but when 90% of all movie based games have the real cast in them, i was kinda hoping for the same here.

Yeah, maybe I'm a bit disappointed in this area. Though, honestly, Luther is the only real disappointment for me at this point. He sounds like a cheap immitator from what little I've heard and leaves something to be desired. I actually thought Swan sounded pretty good. The DJ is acceptable to me, because -although it's obviously not Lynne Thigpen (RIP)- she sounds reasonably close, which is something I wasn't expecting. I tend to like to believe that there's a perfectly valid reason behind things like certain actors not reprising their roles, and we just don't know it. Perhaps very few of the actors wanted to be involved. Rockstar is quite controversial at the moment.
From what I've heard so far, I think Snow and Ajax will be the highlights.

Ajax sounds alot like Remar, so much so that I assumed it WAS Remar in the trailers!
As far as the voice actor strike goes, I think that got settled. They gave them a bit more or something but they still don't get royalties. Besides, That batman game recently game out and that has the real voices of the cast.
It's certainly not a deal breaker with me or anything, but if they had the real voices, it would have been that much more immersive. Hopefully the vloices will grow on me and I won't even notice.

And Remar actually uses his own voice for the game.

Batman movie- (I don't remember) This or last year
The Warriors- 26 years ago
Of course they're going to have problems getting and paying the cast.
And, as said, Remar is doing his voice.

Since paramount had gotten together several members of the cast for the DVD, I thought there might be a chance of them reprising their roles for this project.
So, Remar IS doing his own voice? No wonder it sounds so much like him! heh
I hadn't heard about that, thanks for the info.

Well think about all the money and other things that has to go along with it. It would also be very hard to track the original members down too.

I'm not concerned about the voice acting. You can tell they've tried to make sure all the actors sound similar to in the film. Did Michael Beck do Swan's voice? The Rembrandt one is pretty decent too. It's not going to change the game for me, it's still going to kick ...

The only voice that bugs me is Luthers, otherwise I think the voices have been greta so far. Cleon amd Rembrandt especially.
Besides, considering the fact thatt he movie is 25 years old I think they did a damn good job.

Well Luther is a rather successful character actor nowadays and even though he did the new dvd doc. that probably took one day. How long would the game take?
