I love the Outsiders, but my favorite is "That Was Then, This is Now"

Re: Outsiders and Sequels
My favourite book would have to be Daniel's Story, the detail is used is story really shows the emotion of Daniel. The things that he goes through really grabs you and you don't want to stop reading.

Re: Outsiders and Sequels
Well yeah, i mean they werent direct sequels. But they were based in the same city, just new characters. "That was then, this is now" was one and "Rumblefish" was another. All three books were made into movies.
In TWTTIN (lol) Ponyboy is a minor character, and the same book takes place 3 or 5 years after the outsiders.

I read all those books you metion MM07. 4th grade first picked it up and kept reading no matter what grade. Rumblefish to me was a short story.

Re: Outsiders and Sequels
Well Rumblefish, even though I enjoyed the read--was my 3rd favorite. Seemed so much harder edged than the other two, and more removed too. I liked her writing style better with the Outsiders than I did with either of the other two.
And That was Then told a really good story, and the movie wasn't bad either--
But the OUsiders remains my favorite for character development--you felt like you knew those boys, where TWT is more like just watching from the outside.

I just got finished reading The Outsiders and it was a great book in my opinion, I also finished reading That Was Then This Is Now and that is also a great book but too short in my opinion.
