As far as the quote "Can you dig it"?,a Warriors fan obviously would look at it as a sacrilege, but when i think of that term, i also think of 60's & 70's culture in general..prior to The Warriors..I think of pimps, players,"Good Times","What's Happening","The Mack","Superfly",Pam Grier,Dolemite,Huggy Bear,Curtis Mayfield,Car Wash,"Easy Rider",all the early Psychedelic LSD era films and bands...the list goes on in many different contexes..
Some often get bummed out when they see such a sacred and cool thing get mass marketed..Nowadays i believe that anything cutting edge will end up becoming mainstream..Of coarse hasn't that always happened since the dawn of time, when you really think about it?
I believe,if it's unique, cool and different..people will always catch on or jump the bandwagon..Look at it this way..If its good, then people will recognize it..plain and simple..
Not that i'm saying that you are, but i used to think in terms of keeping great things to my self like a horder, then one day i realized from being an artist myself that one of my purpouses is to entertain, for people to know about who i am or what i do and to spread the word to others, that they really enjoy my work and that i rock.
Anyway, i think it's slightly generic but definately cool that someone flipped the script with Hello Kitty and provided a cultural makeover..I mean c'mon, Hello Kitty's gettin' kinda played and JC Penny's gotta do something to gain sales..I forgot that they even existed anymore.
Peace out Warriors & Warriorettes, Mezzy
