yea i was banned too for 7 days for excessive posting... i do feel that 5 post rule will end up making this place deserted again for a second time.. i mean at least raise it to 10-15

It wasn't the posting limit that deserted this place. Most of us simply ran out of new things to say. Look back in the posting history - everything that is being said has been said before.

That said, even as a moderator I don't have the authority to change the posting limit. Only an admin can do that, and I haven't seen them around in a long time.

Too true.  But it is nice to view things from a new members point of view, the excitement of finding the site.  Also, it is refreshing when a new topic does pop up.  Plus it keeps us older members on our toes to come up with new stuff.  If this place is slow, i think it is not the number of posts one is given, but the quality of the post.  I could go either way, allowing more posts seems great I usually never make more than 5 anyhow.

i know what you mean by keeping quality posts - but a forum is a forum, isnt that the point of even having a hangout off-topic section? it's hard to be hanging out talking with your fellow forum members when you already did 3 quality posts for the day and have 2 left

Right. But part of the reason for the limit was because we mods have to read all of the posts to make sure they are following the rules. We also don't really have a way of marking them as read so we know which ones to ignore.

I post in other forums where there is no limit, and there is a noticeable difference. This forum has somewhat died down from a few years ago - you should have seen it in its glory days. I think the best days were before the game came out - the game attracted a lot of people who had never seen the movie before that, and who took the game as authoritative.

Anyway, especially after the game the limit became important. We from time to time get one-word posts like "cool", or people starting threads like "Who's your favorite Warrior?", not even realizing there is a thread like that two posts below theirs.

With a limit on posting, it reduces the amount of chaff we have to sort through.

When the election results become official, and i am duly sworn in as MODERATOR, I will use the eleven minutes it takes to read though all the posts the 6 of us make a day, with uncommon distinction and honor.

Good deal. When the admins return and ask you to be a moderator, I will be first in line to congratulate you.
