Hi,
there is going to be a big celebrity collector show, with 80 to 100 celebrities from movies and tv selling their autographs.
It will be April-23,24, at the Hilton Airport Convention Center in Burbank CA.
for details-check it out, it is interesting.
http://www.hollywoodcollectorshow.com/Burbank.htm
Both Michael Beck(Swan) and Debra Van Valkenburgh(Mercy) are scheduled to attend.
All celebrities will be charging a fee for autograph/pictures etc.
and there is a fee to get in: 15.00 for one day or 25.00 for both.
and they say on top of the celebrities scheduled--there also will be around 200 movie memorabilia collector type venders with booths set up.
If anyone actually goes---please send a report!! I would love to hear about it, since I know I can't attend. At least not this show.
DEbra is also scheduled to attend the next one in CHICAGO though--the complete list for that one isn't up yet at the website.

Sigh. There was a time when having someone ask for your autograph was a privilege, not a get rich quick scheme. It was a sign that you had finally achieved your dream and were mildly famous enough for people to care.
Sadly, those days are long gone. From overpaid ballplayers who chase away little kids begging for an autograph (but would gladly sign if said kid bought a ticket at a card show for the autograph), to actors such as these who probably really don't have much else to fall back on, everyone is trying to squeeze every nickle they can out of the very fans that made them who they are in the first place.
Thank God for the Son Of Sam law, otherwise we'd have mass murderers holding autograph sessions in state prisons.

Makes me sick also.
I can understand Beck and Van V doing it it's probably a way to make a living.
However a load of multi millionaires ripping people off $150 to sign a bat/ball is digusting. They can **** right off. I'd like to think if i ever become famous i'd sign auto's for free!
Also while on ballplayers. If i was a player i'd happily do a blood test once a month to prove that i don't use steroids! Who wants to hide?
That's that off my chest

Fox,
Then you have guys like Bonds who are making 100 million plus, and they pull off these under the table deals with card shows to get payed in cash and don't report the income to the IRS. Does he really need to hide the extra 50 grand from the government when he's already pulling in 100 mil????
I swear I think the more money you make, the stupider you become.

one thing about this type show, it doesn't seem to be a sports crossover at all. Just actors/actresses and I think in Chicago, they have some playboy bunnies-older now of course. LOL
But I think most actors will sign for free if the timing is right--but at these show type deals it is a mandatory thing--plus they supply the pictures themselves or the "show company" does.
I keep wondering how the vendors thing works---is it like a big carnival or antique thing where everybody has things you can look at /buy?? Or do you have to order--I wonder if they are all dealing in just pictures/poster type stuff or just what they have to offer.
I have been to several big anique things I wonder how it compares, and if it low key or sort of rush high pressure.??
But however they are doing it , it is a sign of the times---the only thing I can say, is IF they have the pictures priced reasonable---I would rather go and buy some stuff there, and maybe pay for specific stars autograph to me in person--than I would bid/buy off the ebay circuit very often---though I do sometimes when the picture/price is right.

They usually will have a seperate room set up with tables or booths for each individual vendor. Expect that many vendors will have rare collectables that they will be trying to sell for BIG bucks. Rarely will you find true collectors selling memoribillia as they are the ones who would hold on to such merchandise.
If you collect these sort of things, you have a good shot at finding something you may have been looking for. Just expect to pay through the nose for it.

I wish I could go to that. Too bad I'm stuck in Minnesota.

Whay can't they just give something back to the public instead of trying to get every last cent/penny out of us!

And then, when the owners finally say "enough is enough, we won't pay these kinds of salaries anymore", the players take them to court and call it "collusion". The owners are supposed to share their lucrative TV contracts with the players.
I could imagine going in to my boss and telling him he made a lot of money in his business last year and now he has to share it with me. He'd throw me the hell out so fast my head woud spin.

I've been to wrestling autograph sessions wherwrestlers have brought their own 8x10s and it was free. Not even a charge to get in.
We're going in there like everybody else nine guys no weapons
