His name was a quote from the movie, so I don't know why it was changed.

You should go to the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station.  This is the station where the majority of the subway scenes were shot on an unused and still unused platform:

When they came across The Lizzies (that was Hoyt-Schermerhorn, not the real Union Square)
The whole scene with the cops on "96th Street" (that was really Hoyt-Schermerhorn)
When Fox dies (it's Hoyt-Schermerhorn)
When they all seperate to get away from the cops and go down different staircases (it's Hoyt-Schermerhorn)
When in the beginning they show the Savage Huns and other gangs (that's also Hoyt-Schermerhorn)

The real Union Square is when Swan is by himself and the Punk starts to follow him and when the rest of the Warriors reunite.  The fight in the bathroom scene was filmed on a set in Queens.  The "arcade" feel of the Union Square station didn't exist.  It was brought in to make a reference from Sol Yurick's novel where Hinton takes on the mechanical sheriff.

When you go to Coney Island, you'll come across a miniature golf section.  This is where the Thunderbolt rollercoaster used to be.  You can see it in the original opening scene when Cleon is talking to Lincoln.  You can also see it at the end when the Rogues are following the Warriors.  You'll also notice that you can no longer walk under the boardwalk--when the Warriors are staring out to the Rogues (they've since filled it with sand back in the late 80s).

Have fun!!!  Take pictures!
Hey?  What about the money you owe???
