Rembrandt Warriors Artist?... Dutch Painter!!!

Rembrandt very short story

Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (July 15, 1606 – October 4, 1669) was a Dutch painter and etcher. He is generally considered one of the greatest painters and printmakers in European art history and the most important in Dutch history. His contributions to art came in a period that historians call the Dutch Golden Age.----------

Because of the Dutch painter's name, did W. Hill name the young Warrior Rembrandt? After all he was a sorta painter, too!!! I think so!!!:mrgreen:

wow I think there is a connection here, he wanted us to think that the warriors rembrandt was an artist he obviously had some knowledge of this rembrandt

I am positive that was the reference Walter Hill was making. Do you ever read the fan fiction section? I wrote a story called "Family Tradition" about how ... well, I won't spoil it.

Anyway, last week in NYC at the Museum of Biblical Art (www.mobia.org) I saw a Rembrandt print there, it was his rendition of the story of the Prodigal Son. It was really neat seeing something by him. I had never realized Rembrandt was his first name.

No, but now I've read it... cool work, 4 real... because of the cadence and it's not long, it is really absorbing... and that last phrase: 
The Warriors were speechless, amazed at the quality of the burner before them. Finally, Ajax said "This kid's a real Rembrandt!"
"Yes he is," said Cleon. "Welcome to the Warriors - Rembrandt!"
WOW!!! Very good job!!!
So, did you already know about the real Rembrandt when you wrote your story?
I have to think so!!!

But, do you really think Ajax knew about the Dutch painter!!!???

... and I was rethinking that after all, as we can see in the movies or in the real life, those rough guys like Ajax do always have a hidden side... I haven't thought about it, so good choice man... I mean Ajax quoting Rembrandt!!! 8)

Oh, theres no question that Walter Hill got the idea for the warrior Rembrandt.  The real question is, how come out of all other artists and painters, this one was chosen?  Not that its a bad thing, but why this one.  Maybe perhaps it because a lot of people do use the name Rembrandt now a days, even if its rare.  Good topic.

if you owned a rembrandt painting you can bet it would be sold for a lot and you would of bought it for a lot because of the rareness of the name and paintings he did.

Well, you know what? Good question!!!
Anyway, I just think I have the right answer... so he was born in Leida - Holland Jul 15 1606, lived most of his life and died in Amsterdam - Holland Oct 4 1669.
Because of this we could say he just was an Amsterdamer, the most important Dutch painter and perhaps the most important European painter (so during that period perhaps the most important World painter)!!!
What I mean is, being him from Amsterdam... being New York early (1625) named New Amsterdam... Walter Hill's choice had to be: a Dutch painter... Who? Rembrandt (the most important!!!)...
... i.e.: a modern (1979 ok, but also today) sorta painter (a gang one) from NYC in NYC (ex New Amsterdam) could have had only one name... Rembrandt!!! A sorta tribute to the people founded New York!!! Well this is what I think!!! 8)
