THE BOOK Covers

Post by PadLock »

Now we all know the book is not as good as the movie. (Not ever really close) Im just wondering what covers everyone has? I have the sliver background of 5 guys running from 100 guys, and the tagline is "The Most dangrous book since Clockwork Orange, Remeber it next time when your on the street alone"

Mine is a soft-back edition and has a black background with a pseudo-crest with an oval picture of Swan, Ajax, Snow and Cowboy. The tag-line at the top says:

"THEY ARE NEW YORK'S TOUGHEST STREET GANG. COOL IS THE NAME OF THEIR GAME. FOR KEEPS IS HOW THEY PLAY IT."

On the back cover it has a picture of the back-side of the remaining Warriors on the Coney Island beach looking ready to rumble and states:

"THE WARRIORS. WERE THEY HEROES...OR PUNKS?

Inside it purports to have a Copyright of 1965 and further states that it's the "First Dell Printing - March 1979."

What I WANT is to find a hardback copy like....ummmm...some of the others on the board have...I am so damn jealous that I don't have one!!!

I've got the 2003 edition, with practically the same cover as the DVD, pretty boring really. :(

How did you guys find such old editions? I checked all the used book stores in town and all I found was the one Sol Yurick "The Bag" a 1974 edition, and not one "Warriors" anywhere. I finally had to break down and buy the 2003 editon with the crappy cover. :?

I have the same as CFK. I love the crest with the bat and chain and the NYC skyline above.

Mine is black, like nighttime, with red lights blurring along the top, like street lights and vehicle headlights and it has one guy in a brown leather vest and greenish long sleeved shirt, and another in a brown (maybe suade) jacket and they have a blonde guy pinned down and the the jacket dude is going to hit him with a piece of pipe or tire iron.
and on the top in White it says
The Warriors
and in yellow with large letters SOL YURICK
and then in small white letters
"It's West Side Storytime-but no one's singing 'I Feel Pretty'.........

and way down in the bottom corner it says Panther insided a circle.( like the one pictured above, only this is just white letters using original cover background black.)
and it is dated 1967
reprinted 1972
mine was actually printed by Panther Books Ltd
3 Upper James Street, London WIR4BP

On the back it has a endorsement statement from Warren Miller (??) that says it is a better novel than Lord Of the Flies.

The original UK price 30p, Australia/New Zealand .95 cents
Singapore $3.00 Canada .95 cents and South Africa .75 cents doesn't give a USA price at all.

I don't know, this one is probably 1972 reprint,--never get books that cheap now--THIS book cost me over 14.00 with shipping from Amazon used, just a few years ago.

I really like that Hardcover First Edition.  I've never seen one of those for sale.  I've got the paperback 1966 edition.
