1979 UK newspaper cutting of Warriors cinema listing

The Warriors was released in February 1979 in the US of course, but in May 1979 in the UK - and was already running in the Midlands by then. See this old newspaper cutting dated May 16th 1979.

(What was a Certificate X movie back then is a Rated 18 movie today)

See how the movie The Warriors was running at these cinemas;

The Classic in Redditch (2nd column across - 7th cinema down). Shown with the Le Petoman short (about a man who could fart to music!)

Kings screen 3 in West Bromwich (2nd column across - 10th cinema down)

The ABC screen 1 on Bristol Rd in Birmingham (4th column across - 1st cinema down)

Just a handful of all those listed cinemas still exist today (e.g. today the ABC on Bristol Rd is partly a centre for homeless drug addicts and alcoholics etc - Scala House - the derelict screen and seating part is boarded up and has been for years). A few new ones have opened up in other parts of the city but still well down on years back.

See the movie Hooper poignantly running at the Oak cinema in Selly Oak (top of the 2nd column across) and at many others too - the star of that Burt Reynolds died recently of course
