Warriors Route?

Post by The Fox »

Does anyone know what route the Warriors took when trying to get to Coney?

I'm going to New York in November and think it would be pretty cool to take the same route as they did!

Haven't told the old lady of this yet! Don't think she'll have the same enthusiasm!

That page states that Marcelino Sanchez was shot, while others say he died from cancer. Who to believe.....

I saw that too, it says that Sanchez was shot in 1992. Most other reports have him passing on from cancer in 1986. Looking at his filmography, it appears that he did nothing after 1986, so more than likely I think the latter is correct.

I think he did indeed pass from cancer. So sad, he was young too!

Actually they never took a path. YOu can find a path that is close enough to it but the real path is kinda mixed up. Most scenes had to be shot in different locations at time in other words alot of driving around than walking that or you can take the train.

I do not know the exact route, but from what I am told by New York residents, the subway ride from C.I. to the Bronx takes about 2 hours during non-peak time; and that also does not include delays, problems, or shuttle transfers. One of the main areas of delay is passing through Manhattan, a large metropolis. I guess Vermin was right in being worried that Coney Island was 50-100 miles away.

That' awesome! But honestly, the funny thing is to go to/from Coney Island to The Bronx (where I live), you don't have to "change trains" at Union Square in Manhattan. That was definitely a dramatic license thing for the movie.

(For New Yorkers: Obviously, if The Warriors were on the 4, 5 or 6 train from The Bronx, they can get right to Union Square easily, especially with the 4 and 5 being express trains, but switching at Union Square makes going to Coney a lot harder, not easier. I believe you see a B train at the start of the film, that does go from Stillwell Ave. in CI right to The Bronx (during rush hours), but coming home, switching at Union Square off the 4-5-6 to get to Stillwell Ave. makes no sense. There is a 96th St station on that 4-5-6 line, but to actually get to Stillwell Ave in CI, taking the 4-5-6 a few more stops south to the Broadway/Lafayette station instead and hopping on the F or B train to Stillwell would make more sense. But hey, it's a movie!

And the B train incidentally, does not go through Union Square, but you can get there real fast from the B by taking the B to 14th St, and hopping an L to Union Square, one stop away. Can you tell I am a big subway fan/geek LOL?)

And listen in all seriousness, while subway crime (and crime in general) has gone down drastically in NYC the past ten years (we now have the lowest crime rate of any major city in America!) do not arrive in Coney and walk around the town at night, CI has gotten rather dangerous at night in recent years, lots of new gang activity definitely.

Get to CI in the afternoon, and if you'd like I can give you directions to the awesome Warriors painting/mural on the boardwalk!
Big Cyrus. He was gonna run the whole city...what crap that was.

It's a large painted mural of Swan, Cochise, Ajax, and Snow, on the side of a building as you walk along the boardwark, but the real cool thing is, whoever painted it knew who the fans would like to see because the main/biggest/dominant Warrior in the mural is Ajax!
