Anyone ever seen it?

I had the misfortune to see it the other day. I rent dvd's online from http://www.lovefilm.com and thought what the hell, be as well watch it. It was inspired by 'The Warriors' and 'Escape From New York', two brilliant films. What a load of crap. I cannot believe it was made after these two films, so cheap and nasty and I'm sure all the voices were dubbed over with new actors voices!!

Actually, when I look back it's maybe worth watching because It will be the worst film you have ever seen. They even made a Bronx Warriors 2..... tempted?!!

LOL -I liked that movie-I have no statement to defend it. I bow to its obsurdity. "Trash" reminded me of Motley Crue.

i like this movie in a laugh at it kinda way, it has a sequel called escape from the bronx.

I just learned something about Trash. He didn't speak English when the movie was filmed. Which explains his off delivery at times. Also, most of the movie was shot in Europe and only very little was shot in the U.S. I ordered the uncut DVD which is supposed to have an entire gang that I'd never seen. I also ordered Warriors of the Wasteland by the same director. I just can't let popular opinion affect me. Many Warriors fans hate this movie and their reasons are well supported. I just don't compare the two in any way.

Well, I just saw the deleted scene I'd been waiting 23 years to see.
It has, of all things, a tap-dancing, sword fighting gang. Very weird stuff. Fred Williamson is great. Vic Morrow as well. The interview with Fred Williamson is very interesting. He reveals how he always has two things on him in every movie: His Superbowl Ring and his own brand cigars. He is a cool cat. Warriors of the Wasteland is also "out there." One thing I now understand that I didn't before, was budget. While "The Warriors" was not given a Kevin Costner budget, it did have a Hollywood USA budget. These other two movies had no budget and that is part of what some people see. Mr. Williamson talks about the differences in movie budgets here and elsewhere. But I have to say this- A big difference for even a fan of both The Warriors and The Bronx Warriors, like me, is that today, I see many of the weaknesses of TBW that I didn't notice or care about when I was 10. Then, all I saw was bad-ass fighters with cool weapons. But, The Warriors has not fallen one bit in my mind. If anything it has gained value, because I used to not appreciate some scenes like I do today. The final train ride is one of those. Anyway, ciao!

I just watched this with the Directors' Commentary.  The director speaks somewhat broken English and there is an interviewer(British).  The interviewer mentions "Walter Hill"s Guerreas"  I'm not sure about that Word but I know he doesn't say Warriors but mean Warriors.  And I get the impression the "riders" were supposed to be called Warriors.  In fact there is a scene at the river during which all the riders form a giant "W" for Warriors.  On a sad note, according to the commentary, Mark Gregory who played Trash, is suffering from Parkinson's disease.

not a great film i bought it a few years ago but bronx warriors 2 is maybe a little better but you have to see it im not sure though nothing compaired with the warriors

After 20 years of not seeing it, I remembered a lot more edge than was actually there.  For example, back in the day, I saw their bikes as the coolest thing ever.  Today, I laugh at such wimpy motorcycles.  The music, which today seems very cheesy, was "powerful" to me in 1983.  I guess it's like when I watch KISS meets the Phantom of the Park today.  It is just not the same impact as 28 years ago.  Some movies don't fall off like this.  The Godfather for one and of course, The Warriors.

I finally saw this yesterday.  I gotta say I loved it's cheesiness. It's oh so obvious Warriors inspired choice of gangs made for good watching too.

My favourite gang by far were the tap / ballet dancing, sword fighting gang, who's looks were a bit 'Furies-esque' if you ask me. The way they appear from behind those pillars looking all straight-faced... only to suddenly start twirling elegantly around before they start fighting was just brilliant  . Me and my Dad had a right chuckle at that.

Emissary, do you know of any explanation on why this was a deleted scene? I'm intrigued.

Anyways, it doesn't come anywhere near the quality and sheer brilliance of our beloved Warriors, but it's well worth a watch just to spot all the influences.
