THE MAKING OF A WARRIORS VEST
Okay!
So, many of you know Mondotees released a Warriors vest earlier this year, and sold out! (We still have a couple of smalls and XXL's left, but that's it!)
We blew through our initial run of 240 vests, which is pretty staggering, considering the 'cult' status of this film. But, I guess I shouldn't be suprised considering how rabid this board is!
SO- After getting a ton of feedback from you boppers, it's time for us to go back to press and make adjustments to our original design and make the new vest even more screen accurate.
I'm going to use this thread here to keep you guys informed about the process and get you feedback. I'll be posting pictures and updates as this goes forward.
Here's what I know now-
This new vest will retail for $150.
It will be available mid to late November.
The patches will be VERY close to WarriorCleon patches, except with a black background and larger, to match the film.
Warbird will measure 12" tall, and the rocker patch 12" across.
The trim around the pockets will be changed to have triangular sides, as opposed to flat sides.
The trim will now be black instead of dark brown.
The diamonds on the trim will be darker than before, but not as dark as the leather (of course).
The armholes will be sized differently for each size vest (smallest on the small, largest on the 2X). The vests I had made previously were incorrectly sized, in that the armholes were the same on the 2X as it was on the Small, which looked funny.
That's all I got for now...keep your eyes peeled for some photos of the prototype patches and such real soon.
Let me know what you think!

They do have a cool vest...however- do you know at least 100 people who will buy one? Or would you yourself like to buy 100?

well, that was pretty rude there, Alex!!alexfugazi wrote: They do have a cool vest...however- do you know at least 100 people who will buy one? Or would you yourself like to buy 100?
it was just a question!
and ya know, you'd think you'd be a little nicer to people here.
considering they're money in your pocket.
LOL
dude, i gotta tell ya!!
i know a lot of people here love ya for the vests.
and thats cool.
i've tried to like you!
i really, really, have.
but i just really dont!
sorry!
all this place is, is money to you.
i dont think i've seen one post, well maybe one, or two, that does not have something pretaining to mondotees, or your vests.
it just seems like all this place is to you, is an advertising site.
every time someone says a word, about vests.
you can bet your ass, you'll be in there somewhere!!
"and dont forget, mondotees has vests!!"
"and they're only..."
ya know??
i know, you got some deal with the W.C. and some of your money comes back to the site.
and thats cool, it should.
but stop acting like you're here, and you're making vests for the "fans"
you're making vests to fill your pockets.
i mean, that is the bottom line, aint it?
ya wouldnt do it, if ya didnt make anything.
would ya?
so be a little nicer, to the people puttin cash in your pockets.
dont treat em like dollar signs!
without em, you're workin at taco-bell, homy!
Tried to give the devil my soul...

Just a side comment, no offence to anyone or nothin but... what if he was in here for money reasons? Who cares? hehehe.. everybody has a reason for being here and making money ain't something horrible... it's not like he's some spammer or something. I also don't think he was being mean, I think he was simply saying that he would have to have at least 100 orders, in order to do it. Usually it works that way, unless you're personally making them yourself. He asked, "would you like to buy 100 yourself" doesn't sound mean to me, because some people do that. Whenever I'm going to make a custom prop or mask, I make sure at least 10-20 people want copies, or it just isn't worth it. Just me observations..

Re: THE MAKING OF A WARRIORS VEST
Geez...
This is the 'Warriors Vest and Costumes" pages is it not? And I'm not just here for money...I've posted quite a few times on the other boards. Making this vest is not just my job, it's a passion.
I dare you to find an instance of me actually being 'mean' to someone. Don't try to pull the 'you're not a true fan' card. We're just here because we're all fans. I get a TON of email from guys on this board asking me questions about the vests and offering suggestions. I've started this thread to workshop this vest with the true fans and get feedback. Everyone gets a say, and hopefully the fans get a better vest because of it.
Please please please don't derail this into name calling and bashing. I implore you.

Re: THE MAKING OF A WARRIORS VEST
Well, here's the problem with going with a single seam vest. The smaller the pieces of leather are that are used, then the cheaper the vest can be. We could get a single piece of leather with no seams at all and while that would look pretty sweet, it would cost quite a bit more than it does now. Think of a cow (not too hard...just don't think of the smell). They only grow so big, eh? The smaller the pieces are that are used, the less leather hide is 'scrapped' and the cost is kept low. I've seen some vests with WAY too many seams, and while it helps the vest's cost, it ends up looking like a quilt. I think we've hit a happy medium, with the seamlines being just the yoke, and the center back seam. Most of the yoke seam is covered on the back by the Warbird, and the front yoke seam is pretty unobrusive. Let me know what you think!YoungWarrior wrote: what about a straight seam on the back?

I can't wait to see both vests, and charloots has a point, any updates on the Warlordswan version? I check to see the other threads.

Re: THE MAKING OF A WARRIORS VEST
My stuff won't be ready until after Halloween, too many costumes to make for people before I can get started... however, I know that with all that AlexFugazi is doing, these new vests are going to seriously rock... and believe me, he does listen to the fans.. he took my suggestions into consideration and wasn't arrogant or cocky about it whatsoever.. I mean, in the end we all want kickarse vests and that's all that should matter. 8)
The internet can be a strange place to convey what you're trying to say and mis-understandings and arguements occur all the time.. I've been in this props and costumes game for a long time and it's the same on any forum. Give people the benefit of the doubt though.. for if he was really about nothing but simply, "making money" I can guarantee that he could sell the new vests for 200-250 each and they would sell all day long, but he kept the cost the same, even with all the changes he's doing to make it more accurate.. which sounds like someone passionate about what he does.. I can dig that.
