Well, not necessarily.
If he had gone with the rest of the warriors, swan wouldn't have led them, meaning that cleon could have led them differently. So, the decisions that he made could have got them wrecked etc.

When nightarmywarrior said that if cleon had gone with the warriors he would have made it back to coney, my reply meant that he might not have made it back to coney because of the reason in my last post.

To me yeah it was about respect for Cyrus... Also He is the Leader.. His soldiers safety was his first concern.. and he wanted to know what was going on.. even then i think Cleon Knew that the journey home was going to  tough. so he wanted information.. As in anything Information is Gold......

I also wondered at first,but he seemed to truly believe in Cyrus's message,he seemed to have the brains and the muscle to lead(unlike some warriors,Ajax who i love but wouldn't be a good leader).I wish he hadn't checked on Cyrus but that what made the movie what it was .
