Review #1 Disney Films and what Disney has become

Post by CheesyJesus »

Since I am unable to put this in the thread it should bein this is the only place I can put it so far.

Now as a child you grow up with family films, films that can be watched by all ages and can be enjoyed but they are mostly viewed by children.
As a child many people would grow up on family films learning their morals and trying to use them in life only later to find out the films completely lied about. There's one company wen you metnion family films they MUST be included and that is Disney.
Image

Disney started off as a company that produced mainly cartoons with shows involving characters such as Alice, Oswald The Lucky Rabbit and the greatest Disney Icon of all time the cartoon character every child knows Mickey Mouse.
In 1937 Disney produced the first ever animated american feature film, Snow White and The Seven Dwarves. The film premiered at Carthlay Circle Theatre in 1937 and hit the cinemas a year later. This film was given titles such as "The Greatest Animated Film of All Time" Disney had started something special and this film began it all.
In 1940 Disney released two famous films, the film of that little wooden puppet Pinnochio and Fantasia and in the following year, Dumbo was realeased and the year after that, Bambi.
In the following years we saw Disney release films such as Cinderella, Lady and The Tramp, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, The Sword In The Stone, Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins and much more
In 1966 Walt Disney died of lung cancer and the company was taken over.
In 1997 Construction began on the Walt Disney Resort and Disney was now beyond a household name.

I could continue naming people and dates and films and what went on with Disney, but the list just goes on, Disney is known worldwide and Disney World is one of the most popular parks to date.

The Disney films no matter how old, you can still get a hold of, as they all left something in our childhood these were the films you grew up with, this was the company that made family films great.

We fast forward to today however and things although the same in certain prespectives, it's still a company that makes carttons, it still makes family films, it still makes animated films.

However when Disney scrapped the old animation factory and went to CGI elements Disney in my eyes became worse.
If it wasn't for Pixar animations joining up with Disney the animation would of been lower standard.
I also need to ask one question WHAT HAPPENED TO MICKEY?

Mickey Mouse IS Disney, he is Walt Disneys creation, he is the icon of disney, you cannot have Disney without Mickey and I'm sorry but the only thing I've heard they are using him with, is a preschooler show.
WHAT THE HELL!
Mickey was made for all ages even Adults laughed at him.
Now what do children have as their Disney Icons
Two things
High School Musial
Hannah Montannah
Both of them I loath with a passion, High School Musical is just a cheap sleezy rip off of Grease and making three films is just pointless.
Hannah Montannah just NO....what is it with all you fangirls saying people are jealous cus she has talent, she dont have talent, she got famous cus of her dad who I didnt like anyway. The only reason guys like hEr is cus they wanna...well....you know.

Oh and Disneys latest film Beverly Hills Chehuahua....when that film came out I knew Disney was dead.

I mean DEAR GOD....I thought children knew between good and bad films, watch Snow White, Watch Aladdin dont watch this, if you wanna see a Disney film about dogs watch 101 Dalmations, BUT NOT THIS....the sad thing is this is making BIG money. Children wanna see this cus it's Disney, parents take their kids cus they want their kids to grow up with Disney.

Walt Disney whatever rumours and stories about him are true, he would not want his company to be this bad, making a film about Chehuahuas...I CAN MAKE A BETTER FILM THEN THAT

He must be rolling in his grave right now, trying to tell his company what the hell they are doing wrong, go back to the old animaiton, those films were good, those films is what kids need, not High School Musical or Hannah Montannah or god dang Chehuahuas.....DEAR GOD

....I'm sorry I am done with Disney, this is the company I grew up with and it just makes me feel dirty.

Damn!! I agree with you! Disney is dead.. now it's all animated and sh*t!!!

What happend to the good old Disney, back when they actually used a pencil to make their films...
It's sad that the kids today grow up with the animated movies, and miss out on all the REAL Disney movies.

FU*K High School Musical, as you said, yeah, it's just a grease rip off, no Disney magic or anything, and Hannah Montannah.....  :-&

Yeah, all that Milly Cyrus, HSM and all the rest of it, are just total crap. It's all about the green.

I just stick to cartoon network when I need a cartoon fix.

Ok i know the old films were good but do you really think that a child in this era would want to see a film with only sound effects and something that had been drawn? NO.
The reason children like Beverly Hill's chiuaua(or however you spell it) because it lets their imagination run free.
A world with talking dogs and that it just inspires young children.
As for HSM i agree it sucks but still children like it and yes i know it is all about the money but woopdey doo if it entertains your child i guess everyone is happy.
Also i know you are very patinate about this and you have written like a whole article about it so i dont want to have a go at you or anything but the Disney movies they show are still good and are appropriate for all ages.

And sorry whats this about?-

How on Earth does this make you feel dirty??
Just because you think you are too good for a movie with talking animals dosent mean you need to say 'disney makes you feel dirty', what i think is you are just being a douche about this, i know you want to express your feelings and i respect that but just get over it.

Disney can still pull a rabbit out of its hat.  This week, I watched Bolt in 3D (note to male members: its a decent choice to take a chick on a date. It worked for me  ;) ). Anyways, its a contempory enough looking film while still managing to retain the classic disney type story with timed comedy moments.  There were more adults than kids in the cinema, and it was great to see kids get a kick out of something that had a moral to the story.  A rare event was that no one got up to take a leak before the film ended.
Rhino the hamster is the greatest Disney creation in the past 40 years.  That is all.

Disney is Disney, although I like the dark side of it.  I saw a whole bunch of good toons and movies made by them.  Nevertheless Gezza is right, times have changed and so Disney has to give the kids what they want, I mean after all, it's about making money.  I know Cartoon Network tried to throw some old school Looney Tunes into their schedule, but it didn't work, why?  Because kids don't want to watch these type of cartoons.

Im in two minds over this, first I agree Chehuahuas looks like a crap movie, and disney have changed since the days I was a kid, but with a 10 year old daughter who just loves high school musical and Hannah Montannah Ive seen the influence disney can still have on kids. I also think high school is just a grease copy but its something the new generation can call their own. Also I took the family to see bolt and everyone enjoyed that me and my wife included.
whats everyones favouite disney movie. my favourite is robin hood classic!!!!!!!!
