How many have the original dvd?
Re: How many have the original dvd?
Thing is, Walter Hill shouldn't have done the opening narration himself. Then again, his budget for his director's cut that Paramount gave him, I assume, was minimal as possible, and not enough for him to actually hire somebody to do a really stirring narration. A pity, since on script paper, the opening narration is good.

I still like the old school theatre version opposed to the new one. Don't get me wrong Sin City is a good movie but it aint in the same class as the WARRIORS so let's just keep it that way.
Re: How many have the original dvd?
Someone has uploaded the original version onto youtube. The link is in my other thread.
I am hoping to get the original off amazon soon!
See you later

I enjoy the Directors cut as well, it takes some time to get used to, but it's not bad.
Re: How many have the original dvd?
has anyone seen the original version in any stores recently?
or do you pretty much have to resort to the internet to purchase it?

I have the theatrical version of it on DVD. I love the film. It´s my second favorite movie after the legendary Blade Runner.
For all "Warriors" from Germany - Hier könnt ihr euch die DVD relativ günstig besorgen: www.best-trade.de
Einfach oben ins Suchfeld "The Warriors" angeben. Ihr müsst euch aber vorher anmelden und solltet darüber hinaus min. das 18 Lebensjahr erreicht haben! Viel Spass!

I think we can all agree that we just simply bought the directors cut for the interview. So we can see how the actors are doing, and what knowledge they have to give us, on our never ending quest for warriors info. I, like most of you love the original version for its sense of realism, and 70's culture. I don't like how the new one says "sometime in the future...". We don't know that the future will look like that. I prefer the old 70's theme.

Well, I don't have the original DVD but, I do have the first release on VHS.
I would much rather watch the original than the directiors cut anyway. Like adam88 said, I really liked the interviews and such with the actors but, the comic book sences kinda ruined it for me.

Re: How many have the original dvd?
Oh yeah, I agree, the original is far better. Its not only the comic book scenes as well, just by looking at it I could see that it was all vamped up and... cleaned which the original wasnt, it was gritty, it was old, it was original. Like I was saying though, its not just the comin book scenes, its the sound - the sound is all messed up the quiet stuff is loud and the loud stuff is quiet - and what really p*ssed me off is the zooms. They added zoom-ins to people's faces and it just totally annoys me every time I see it. Look for them. When Luther shoots Cyrus and he and Fox are stuck in a staring contest its...
He's seen him!
He's seen that he's seen him!
Zoooooom!
He's gonna kill him for that!
Zooooooooooom!!
Oh no he's pointing the gun at him!
Zooooooooooooooomm!!!
And so on, so forth, Im not telling you about the whole film, just saying that it annoys me.
Oh, and they ruined the end when they arrive at Coney.. Tch - should not have comic book-ed that up.
Just needed to get that off my chest.

i know the comic version is annoying.. but why not make the whole film into a comic.. just like A SCANNER DARKLY? that would kick-ass..

Re: How many have the original dvd?
That would be a pretty slick way to redo the flick. I don't think anybody has ever rotoscoped over a whole movie that's already been made, but it's a neat idea, not just for The Warriors but to just about any famous movie. In least it'd be a cool special feature for any future DVD... Unlikely though, but cool...
Re: How many have the original dvd?
I have the newer DVD, but my dad has the original. He was thinking about giving it to me then he decided to keep it.

Re: How many have the original dvd?
i have a copy of the original, the directors cut and i managed to pick up an 80's VHS release of the film with the fugitive song instead of nowhere to run.......thats the version i first saw, when i saw it on tv and heard the nowhere to run song i was confused :doubt:
