Well, first welcome to the forum.  Well the wonder Wheel has been up for so long I don't want to think of the possibilities of it not being safe  I am sure that they check up on its safety, other wise it wouldn't be up for as long as it has, just go and have fun, don't worry.

Hi,

I've been twice to coney in the day in the last 2 years when visisting from the u.k and it was a great place. Felt totally safe.

However the wonder wheel is closed in March so, i don't think that it will be lit up. I would also think twice about walking the area at night in off season.

Coney is a graet day out though what ever time of year and is well worth the hour on the subway 8)

I had no worries when i went and i think like most of the city it's improved over the last 20 years.

I was shocked how safe i felt wherever i visited in the City.

Like anything/one it's tough to loose a bad rep.

I've only been twice to Coney but, it's probably my fave place in the world (Other then my home). I wish that they would set up some web cams in the area8)

Stay out of dark alleys, don't stare at strangers, and you'll be fine.  :)

And most important, remember to have fun. Grab a dog at Nathan's. I recommend the bacon cheese dog. Those things will kill you if you eat too many of them, but they're delicious!

I'm hoping to get back to Coney, possibly in May. I hope the park is open.

I read an article on Camden also and it's sounds pretty crazy.

You're talking about the New Jersey Giants yeah :D

Coney isn't one of the nicest sections of Brooklyn, but it ain't the worst either. Last time I went to CI, it was the Summer of 2005, nighttime,  and I saw a group of about 20 cops just walking around patrolling the streets. Don't leave without riding the Cyclone. And if youre looking for a nice place to have a drink or two, or spark up, the beach at nighttime is a safe haven for riff-raff such as myself...LOL...Thats if you're into that kinda stuff

Ha, my dad used to live in Camden as a kid and me and my brother were born there at Lady of Lords. Belive me, you have to live the Eagles there. No one in Camden likes the Giants. That's North and Central Jersey's team.

That's the truth. I'm a Giants fan from Newark, and I know that EVERYBODY in South  Jersey, West Jersey & Eastern Pennsylvania LOVES their Eagles.[quote="Scurvy Dog"]

And anybody who knows about rowdy sports fans, knows that Eagle's fans, as all Philadelphia sports fans, are the craziest. I mean they booed Santa Claus for god's sake!!! LOL All Giant's fan's ever did was pelt some poor sap with snow & ice balls for wearing a Steelers Coat.
