I just don't see how a remake could work. What made this movie so great was the actors that were chosen for all of the roles...how could that ever be replicated. Also, there really were gangs somewhat like in the movie during that time in America...everything is so much different now. A remake of the movie would probably be a disaster...some things would just be better left alone. I think a part 2 could have been made in like a year or two from the original 79-81 that could have given us more background info on the gangs and their environment along with a good storyline.
