'The Warriors' is without doubt the greatest gang movie of all time, just classic.

BUT with regards to graffitti the best movie by far is 'Style Wars', it was put together in NYC in the summer of 1982 and captures a magical time in NYC Hip Hop history on the streets with the golden era of graffitti in the city.

Loads of great interviews, great character's, amazing NYC footage and some great music, if like me your into old school Hip Hop and funk.

I had this on video tape from Channel 4 back in the 80's and watched it all the time, you can now get it on DVD with some nice extras, interviews with the main players 20+ years on.

If you want some NYC street history this is the film to see, pure classic.

Forgot to say, any fan's of 'Beat Street' should love 'Style Wars' as it's from the same era, just a couple of years before, but much more realistic, 'Beat Street' was more of a Hollywood version of what was going on on the streets at that time.

I was one of the kids back in the 80's that would lay sheets of cardboard down on the street corner to perform breakdance moves (couldn't get hold of any lino). Spray paint was out of our pocket money range, so we used marker pens on industrial sized cardboard packaging.  We left the proper graffitti to the bigger kids.  Good times.  Wish I could go back and live it all again.

My one regret was not photographing the Warriors graffiti that was painted on the back of Stau's Baths in Coney Island. I had visited it several times, the first time being in 1979 just to see it but never brought a camera.
