I had to buy the new "comic book" version when it first came out, if only for the great documentary on it but I still prefer the original dvd, theatrical version. Do you guys have that original and which one do you prefer?

I have the original dvd.  I hope to receive the comic version this Christmas or for my birthday.  I've heard about it and it sounds pretty cool.

I don't like the comic book version for one thing and one thing only. The Furies scene, when Swan, Snow, Ajax and Cowboy look and they see the furies with baseball bats and facepaint on. In my opinion it added suspense to the movie.

i got it on...
VHS - but i watched it so many times, its almost burnt out.  i'll have to get another copy soon.
original DVD - got it shortly after they first released it.
director cut DVD - got it the first day it was released....very disappointing.
english version(i guess?) DVD - i got it from some dude here for $15.  its actually got the REAL deleted scenes, extended scenes, plus ALL the movie trailers, not just the ones that aired in the US.  my copy wasn't that great but this is the one with cyrus's entire speech.  this is the must have version.

I have the original.  Luckily, I got it right before the Director's cut came out, which I hate.  The interviews I love, of course, but the stupid comic book frames just stall the movie.  It's like  Spielberg going back to ET and putting bullhorns in the FBI agents hands instead of the guns they had in the original version.  Totally unnecessary.

I've got 3 versions of the movie:

The Theatrical Version
The Director's Cut (Comic Book Version)
The Uncut Version

Yep, i agree... the Furies scene was ruined.. I love it when Ajax, Swan, Snow and Cowboy run out and it shows you all of their faces... The comic book got rid of all the shock and suspense..

That's a downer  :(.  As a kid, that was (and still is) my favorite scene in the movie.  The Furies lined up in the street, waiting to beat someone down, then the chase.  I always felt the Furies got a raw deal in the fight scene.  I think they should have gotten some more productive swings in from the cutter of the film.

I got the normal DVD and the comic book version. Im not too keen on the comic book bits but the documentaries made it worth while.
Does anyone know if a version with the deleted scenes will ever be released?
Cheers

I understand what Walter Hill wanted. I mean, THE WARRIORS was a pulp comic bookish universe, with a tale set within those confines.

The problem is, the movie itself is comic bookish enough without the editing panel tricks or whatever he was trying to do in that Director's Cut of his. Besides, it wrecks the potent masculine action narrative that I always knew the movie to have.

In other words, its like chocolate syrup poured all over chocolate ice cream. Its not needed.
