Re: Director's Cut vs. Theater release
Personally I like the Directors Cut but thats because I love the whole Comic book element. Mind you I'm not sure about the Greek fable at the start..

Theater is way better. Nothing will ever beat it.

Re: Director's Cut vs. Theater release
theater version is way better, the whole comic thing kind of killed it!
the original has the best intro! it starts right from the wonder wheel scene, not like the directors cut wich has walter talking at first about the roman soldiers.

I couldn't of said it better swan_jax, this is the reason I don't like the director's cut either.swan_jax wrote: theater version is way better, the whole comic thing kind of killed it!

Re: Director's Cut vs. Theater release
I understand the reason for the Roman soldier bit but I just think it killed the atmosphere a bit. The comic book parts I liked though, I really get what he was trying to do with it

Re: Director's Cut vs. Theater release
I figured I'd leave well enough alone since the theatrical release was what I grew up on, but after reading these posts I think I'm going to have to break down and get the Director's cut on DVD. I'm a little surprised it's not available on Netflix here in the U.S. however, since apparently the director's cut came out in 2005.

Theater release was-is-'ll be the best!!!
Director's cut is not too bad, ok, but The Warriors is a cult movie also thanks to the original cut!!!

Re: Director's Cut vs. Theater release
Is it even worth buying the Director's Cut or should I hold off until it's available for rent? I already own the original on DVD so am wondering if it's worth coughing up the money for...

Re: Director's Cut vs. Theater release
It's not worth it in my opinion, I prefer the normal version, I did however like the greek soldier part because i love greek mythology.

Re: Director's Cut vs. Theater release
The original of course. Hill(like Lucas) went and just screwed it up BIG TIME. My god,the ending of the original was great as they stroll down the beach while the credits roll and Joe Walsh is jammin',and Hill changed it
The comic additions were awful. I was mortified watching it. I saw it one time and was literally cringing during certain parts.

Re: Director's Cut vs. Theater release
I kind of like the Director's Cut, but then again when I first saw The Warriors a couple of years ago I saw the fight scene with The Punks all the way to the end. Then I found the Director's Cut for sale at Walmart for $7.50 and I grabbed it. I don't really like seeing the intro by Walter Hill everytime I watch the movie, I can't seem to figure out how to disable it
now I do like the the comic book scenes because that format has kind of become popular in recent films, and I believe The Warriors might have been the first movie to "test" the idea. Hence it did not make it into the final theatrical release, but Walter Hill tossed the idea about his head so it might count as being the first.... but thats just my opinion at the end there, i might actually be wrong. anyways long live The Warriors!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Director's Cut vs. Theater release
After reading these responses it seems like most people prefer the theatrical release, so I'll save my hard earned cash and leave my original Warriors movie memories intact. Thanks everybody!
I would still pay to see the Director's cut in a theatre on the big screen however if it ever plays near me, just out of curiosity and also to hear more of the soundtrack...
