So I was out today walking my English Bull Terrier 'Rocky'

He is a fantastic dog and has been fully checked by both vets and professional dog trainers alike and both have said that he isn't a violent dog but he doesn't like the company of other dogs(He's a rescue). They get on his nerves and he barks like mental.

As I was saying, we were out walking in the big park near my house today and he was on the lead (As he always is since he doesn't like other dogs) and we had been walkking and playing for a while so I get myself a starbucks and pop myself on a bench while my Rocky happily chews on his rubber bone that goes everywhere with.

Not too far from us I see a man with about 5 different breeds of dog with him and three of them are off the lead. These three dogs happen to be getting quite close to Rocky who is starting to get quite aggitated. So I politely shout to the man if he could please call his dogs back because Rocky isn't too fond of other dogs. I get no answer.

I politely ask again only this time the man storms up to me and starts shouting at me and giving me abuse about how my dog is a danger to other dogs and the general public and how I should have him destroyed.
That was basically what he said but this battering ram of abuse continued for 15 minutes and if he hadn't been as Camp as a row of Pink tents I might have felt intimidated. He was still hurling abuse at me from over his shoulder as he walked away and I went home in tears.

Someone tell me i'm not going crazy and I was in the right. Rocky was on a lead which I had a firm grip of me. He hadn't tried to attack the man or his dogs. All I had asked was if he could keep his own animals away from mine so I could prevent that happening.

Some people are idiots, simple as that. People who shouldn't be allowed an opinion.

It also doesn't help with the amount of bad press that tempremental dogs have been getting recently, as soon as someone hears that a dug has angry tendencies they jump to conclusions, "... Danger to society..." etc.

The dude still shouldn't have went off his nut, absolutely no excuse for that, especially seen as like you said, your dog didn't do anything. Not to mention the fact that you had the good decency to warn him of what could actually happen.

For the record, I believe that you were in the right, and am actually surprised that a guy who has five different breeds of dogs went off on one at you, especially regarding the matter that he brought up.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going completely mad. The verbal attack took me completely off gaurd because I figured someone with lots of different dogs would apprieciate the warning and understand it!

The press does annoy me too. I feel like I constantly have to defend Rocky when people give him nasty looks or parents move their kids away from him. He really is a lovely dog who I've raised since he was 6 months old. Of course I do treat him for what his is, an animal who can snap sometimes if provoked.

That man was that kind of human being, yeah that kind cannot just live among the people!!!
Anyway I did have two Sweet Dogs, well They lived their lives...

Me and Rocky are the best double team ever! It's sad that I've yet to find a guy who can live up to Rocky's reputation haha! 

Damn Kisstherain I love animals, dogs especally and awhile ago my friends pit got put down because some chav punched the dog in the face for no good reason and it fought back, she told the police this and yet they had the dog destroyed, she is so upset over this and she was thinking of taking it to a court but it probably wouldn't go in her favour.

Thats a shame. I'd be crushed if Rocky got put down. Stupid people with no common sense.

I'm not as upset anymore, I'm more mad! So when I take Rocky out this afternoon if I see that guy again i'm going to give him a piece of my mind!

I think that is ridiculous all you did was trying to prevent a fight and this idiot went off for no reason he must of being looking for a fight you were completely right.

from my understanding, this guy sounds like a real j*rko*f. i think the dude deserves to get his teeth smashed in a few times.

p.s. the dude sounds like he escaped from a mental institution, if he really said all that b.s. to you for no reason.

I have a dog that i walk called pomy she is only a little dog and is only young she is 10 months old now she is fully vet checked and the most loving pet ever i take her for walks and she loves it and she is so hyperactive inside she just runs around the place and she is so friendly to other dogs and she is good off the lead also.
