Has anybody here seen the 1979 gang movie Boulevard Nights. Not to be confused with Boulevard Knights. Its a Chicano L.A. based film. For some reason its not a very well known flick like Colors or Boyz in the Hood. It has been awhile since Ive seen the movie, but I remember it being a very good flick.  There are a few clips on you tube.

Sorry, I hated these films.  I would watch them just to see if they were like the Warriors and no match.  Colors, Boulevard Nights, Blood In Blood Out.  Not my taste.

OOpps, I used the search, but I guess on the wrong page??  I didnt know you could watch a whole movie on you tube? What would Paramount say if you played the entire Warriors on you tube???? Anyways, IMO Boulevard Nights was a decent gang flick. The best part being (part 6 when they are getting tatoed) I also dig on movies that have alot of old cars in them. I tend to classify gang movies into two catagorys ( greaser type) without guns and the Homie type movies. I prefer the greaser type movies.  The Warriors movie has raised the bar very high to match.also it was made with (pure magic) that is hard to duplicate. IMO the only movie that could (remotely) hold a candle to it is The Wanderers.

You know, among all those movies I liked only Colors. But it's not just a masterpiece. I think that all these movies real problem is the setting. I mean LA. LA members, don't take offense!!! ;)
I'm not from LA, and not even from NYC... to be honest I'm not just from USA... ... but I just think that Gang Life found out a richer soil in the East Coast. In New York, then, it was perfect. In LA it was different... I can be neutral here... and believe me guys... it just seems so!!! 8)

Well my problem with these movies was that, the violence was done with guns and not fist fights or bats.  The plots were lame to me.  The Warriors just concentrated on them in one night, as for these other movies, they had too many characters to follow.  By this time as well, the whole "gang" movies were becoming old.  Hollywood started to focus more in mobster movies.

I remember Boulevard Nights back when it came out.  Seeing it again now reminds me of all of the cruising that we used to do.  Did no care about wasting gas.  We would drive up and down the street blasting music - sometimes all of us would have the same FM station on and we'd all be playing the same songs in our cars.  The scene in Boulevard Nights with all of the cars jammed on a street is what it looked like every Friday and Saturday night - except I didn't drive a lowrider.  I had a 1968 Camaro and a 1968 Cougar.

I guess like always it is a matter of taste.  I liked the movie, probably cuz I am from the LA area, I work near East Los Angeles and grew up around the area so I like seeing places I know or knew.  But these movies are similar in the gang aspect just different stories and concepts which I can appreciate.  If they were all like the "Warriors" then what's the point IMO.
