Twisted tales of hospitals, Hearses and true love...
One after another, haunting stories are brought to life by The Turnbull AC's in the form of gracefully melodic-- but almost masochistic-- compositions.
The band's captivating way with words has been described as "what songwriting should be and too often is not" (City Beat Magazine).
Started in mid-2005 by vocalist and songwriter Dan Mecher, the band spent its first year writing and performing at various venues in its hometown of Cincinnati.
The band had made an impression on the local music scene before even putting out an album, as it was nominated for the 2005 Cincinnati Entertainment Awards for New Artist of the Year, as well as a nomination for Dan in the category of Singer/Songwriter of the Year.
After participating in regional festivals including the Midwest Music Summit and The Midpoint Music Festival, the group finally announced the release of their debut album. In a highly-publicized, unprecedented three-night album release event, their self-titled LP was unveiled in May, 2006. One of the shows took place at the historic Ludlow Garage, a popular venue in 1970 that hosted acts such as The Stooges, The Allman Brothers and Jimi Hendrix. The event was the first live music featured in the building, now a shopping mall, in over 30 years.
The group is currently touring the Midwest and promoting its album, receiving airplay from a growing number of stations including WOXY.com in Cincinnati.
