You were very lucky Haterist.....they do say that when a huge gang attack one person if you put your arms infront of your face and crouch slightly then only a few blows will catch you,as theres that many scrambling to get at you they end up hitting each other or getting in each others way,which may of happened to you here.(I wouldn`t like to test this theory though!)
But well done for sticking up for the kid,not many would!

i was lucky no one there had any guns or knives, that would've been bad but still too hardcore for those wannabes.
its funny(and smart) you say that cause thats exactly what i did, crotch down a bit and keep my face covered to protect myself. they still caught me with a bunch of good shots but the only ones that really hurt were the skateboards and bottles to my head, otherwise they hit like whimps and fought like the orphans.

well if it makes you feel any better, heres my story of the year.

so last thursday i'm at my local park skating when i see a group of 50 kids running towards the park. someone says, "oh crap, someone's gonna get jumped". next thing i know they're trying to rush this 16 year old kid who skates. he's a good kid, doesn't mouth off to anyone and keep to himself, and me being the grown up, i jumped inbetween them cause theres no reason why 50 kids need to fight one 16 year old kid.
"hey guys, i don't know whats going on but theres 1 of him and 50 of you. hes just a kid man, if you wanna do something, do it to me but leave the kid alone."
next thing i know i get sucker punched in the side of the face by one of them, then before i can even swing back, it turns into an all out beat down. i can't even throw a punch let alone block one. i'm talking 50 guys ages ranging from 14 all the way up to 25 and i got hit with everything but the kitchen sink. they started dumping out trash cans and grabbing bottles to break over my head, then they grabbed trash cans and threw them at me. and if that wasn't enough, they then grabbed some skateboards off the other guys there and started going to town on my head. i got hit atleast 6-7 times with the board and caught atleast 4 bottles to the head and they didn't even break. it was in-friggin-sane! i've never had anything like that happen to me ever. i was just trying to be the calm voice of reason and protect one of the neighborhood kids but here i am catching a beatdown up by mob of people.

this went on for 1 minute or so and all i could do is cover up and not fall to the ground cause i know if i fall, i'm a dead man for sure. then out of nowhere, this 17 year old kid who skates loses it and take his board to the biggest guy in the group. he caught him good, right in the side of his head....it was the only blow he got to throw. the mob then splits from into 2, one group attacking him, another still attacking me, its 20 on 1 now maybe i have a chance...NOT! finally i get some breathing room and start swinging like a maniac but i get bum rushed again and i was getting caught with lefts and rights all over the place.

this goes on for another minute or so, and the mob starts to calm down but by this time, the 17 year old kid who helped me is flat on his face bleeding from his head and back....they slammed a friggin mountain bike on his back! i'm still standing but i don't know which way is up or down, i'm in a total daze and stubbled across the park exit like a zombie. i wasn't cut or bleeding(luckily) but my noggin was covered in lumps from all the bottles and skateboard blows i caught....damn that shiet hurt.

then finally the cops show up...."what happened?" "what do you think happened? look at us, we just got wrecked". "anybody see anything?" "of course everyone saw everything but nobody saw nothing, right?" no body said a peep including me. so they took a police report and took me and the 17 year old to the hospital. luckily neither one of us was injuried too badly so after a quick check up and a "god daaaaaamn!", they let us go.

moral of the story...
don't ever be the calm voice of reason when theres an angry mob standing in front of you.

Couldnt agree more! i hate people that do that. they know they cant take one person on their own so get a full gang to go after the person. man bunch of chicken *****. you know what but? they'll get whats coming to them. one day an even bigger gang will pound on them and i (problably one of many) would pay to see it

while i appreciate the praise from you guys, i really don't deserve it and thats not why i posted the story.  i'm sure most of you dudes would do the same if you were trying to lookout for a kid in your neighborhood.  as much as i'd like to think i did a good/courageous thing, it wasn't so much a good thing as opposed to just plain stupid.  i mean i live in washington heights which is prodominantly Dominican and i've been here long enough to know how the people in this hood operate.  even my a bunch of my dominican friends said, "its never a fair fight when fighting with dominicans, you're getting jumped, end of story".
it just seems all these gangstas(wannabes) are totally soft lately.  not soft as in what they're willing to do since most people nowadays will shoot or cut anyone at the drop of a hat(or atleast claim it), but soft as in they're total whimps and afraid to do anything on their own.  i mean, back in my days, sure you brought your friends along if you were going to fight someone but it was ALWAYS 1 on 1.  anyone there was there to watch, no one was allowed to jump in, it was a rule of the streets, its about being a real man and handling your own business.  even the gangs back then fought 1 on 1, it was only a rumble if multiple people had beef with one another and even then, we fought with our hands.  anyone in my neighborhood who used a weapon of any kind was considered a total pu$$y and no one, not even the friends who fought along side you, would respect you afterwards. 

anyway, i was really angry about it at first but what can i really do about it?  i know where they all hang out and i could easily go over there and take care of business but hows that going to solve anything?  when i kill them?  when they kill me?  when does it end?  it doesn't end, it never ends, it only keeps the vicious cycle going so all i can do is be a bigger/wiser person, let it go, and hope that karma will come take a bite out of their butts which i'm sure will be sooner than later.
