i think this forum needs a clean up, i checked the members list and there are loads of people with 0 posts who have been members for a long time! i wouldn't care if the warrior rank was raised, i wouldn't care if you got rid of ranks, all i care about is staying on this forum.
I must admit i don't post in warrior related subjects as much as i used to but i checked my stats and it says i still have the most posts in warriors 1979, but i know people who have made little or no posts in any warrior related sections, i wouldn't be suprised if they didn't know there was a film, most have probably only played the game and suddnely think they know everything about it.
i'm also a bit angry with all this "i'm a warrior so you treat me with respect" crap! the warrior rank doesn't mean s**t! i'm a warrior but i couldn't care less! like i said all i care about is staying as a member of the forum and i'm all for a clean up of this place.

i don't think we should get rid of the off topic areas because there are some good topics there, especially in the music, film and other games section, and raising warrior rank to 1000 posts would be an excellent idea. as for the fee, i wouldn't mind it as long as it was one off, i probably wouldn't pay monthly. and the age limit would be ok seeing as i turn 15 in september so that wouldn't be too long to wait, i could ask my mum to pay the fee for my birthday! so yes some of them ideas would be really good!

now i gotta go and calm down, my blood pressure is probably sky high lol

I'm sorry War Chief but if there was a fee I wouldn't be able to stay. And the age limit wold be a problem too. I think the off topic bords are a way to get to know the other posters. Maybye you could make it so that the off topic bords don't count towards warrior rank.

I think the fee would only apply to new members at this point. But still, I take note of your point!  ;)

I am also considering making a new website on cult movies, so perhaps people would like to go there to continue chatting about other movies....?

a fee for new members only would be excellent, and stickwarriors idea is really good too, only warrior realted posts count towards warrior rank.

Scurvy Dog wrote: This is a great topic, War Chief. Also a great site, but it is growing so large, probably beyond your original expectations. With that kind of growth comes unforseen challenges, so sometimes changes are needed, as you have said.

Here is my input, and thank you for welcoming it.

1. Just what "off topic" boards would you be ditching? I would suggest keeping the Warriors-related boards - General Warriors Chat, Fan Fiction, Merchandise, Fan Art, Warriors Book - but possibly ditch the other off topic boards - Off Topic, Music, Movies, Books, Sports. Yes, I have posted in some of them before, but it would not bother me if they were gone.

2. I would be willing to contribute a nominal fee. Or have you considered this - setting up the site so that we pay a VERY nominal fee per post (such as 25 cents US, no idea what that is in the UK) via Pay Pal. If we are paying by the post (even a very small amount), we would be more inclined to post only the most meaningful posts. For those of us with tons of money and nothing better to do with it, hey, at least they'd be contributing to the costs of running the site.

3. Drop the karma rating. Yes, it's nice to be recognized for a good post, but if somebody pays to respond to a post, that in itself is saying something. Typed compliments and constructive criticism is more meaninful (in either case) than anonymous karma raises or penalties.

4. One more thing (added late). How would you enforce the age limit? Anyone can SAY they're 15 or older. Is there an effective way to verify that online? Or would it be on the honor system?

Those are my only suggestions at this time. Thank you again for inviting our input.
theres no real effective way to enforce age,w ich has been one of the reasons we have not done it. the only real effective way it to change it to 18+ with a credit card # for proof wich most people wont want to do ecept for the real hardcore's. i also agree with the karma thing it was nice at first but i think it does more harm then help. i dont think we will pay per post at most it would be a per month or bi month kinda thing

as far as getting rid of all the off topic boards, my personal feeling is i would like to see them stay however i dont want people to join just to use those, i would much rather people join for the warriors forum and then use those as a side thing like most forums do

good input ether way

the only problem with the credit card thing is that you could just ask your parents if you can use theirs and then pay them back with your own money. another way to prove age is everyone put in their date of birth when they first joined and these are most likely truthful seeing as is no age restriction yet, so why should they lie, so you could change it so they cant change there age on their profile and then stop anyone under a certain age from logging in until they're that age. so don't delete thir profile unless of course they're 2 or more years under the age restriction or something.

I want the old forum back! The thing I don't like is paying because my parents wouldn't let me pay just to talk on a forum, but overall I want the old forum back.

An age limit for new members would be a good thing, but I wouldn't know how you'd stop the blaggers! As it stands now though, maybe you could flat out lose the less mature members? They're not exactly hard to find! (and I don't mean age-wise, as there are a good few of the younger members that are really switched on to what's what) It's a tough one, nonetheless...

It would be a shame to lose the ranks and karma system, but going by the way it's been made into such a big deal as of lately, I wouldn't exactly miss it.

Overall, do what you gotta do... this place needs AND deserves it!

Perhaps the off topic forums only become available to you when you reach a certain post limit - possibly 250 posts or something. We probably have way too many. I don't think the book forum is used very much. Perhaps we could have a third forum for all kinds of off-topic stuff.

As for age, I'm not too bothered about making sure everyone is over the age limit, but I think with age come better posts. However I think we have some great young posters on the board. Tricky one.

We are still recovering from the effects of the game, and I am sure when the new movie comes out next year (or when ever) we will have a load of newbies again!

Thanks for the input so far, keep it coming.

I think all your ideas are great. It would be hard to enforce an age limit and I think a fee would be a bit too much to ask to join. Maybe the idea Gonz had about a quiz, if they get it right we know they are a true fan. Also I think the off topic boards are good, but maybe just keep 'Off Topic' and there you can chat about sports and the like, but as you said maybe just leave it open to those with over like 250 posts.

*sigh*? :(

Basically posters who have not achieved a certain number of post should NOT be able to post topics!
If the you know what system (I like this system and I personally think it works) goes negative to
say -12 then a serious review of the member should take place between moderators.

I think an initial joining fee is not a bad idea - although forum posts should still be read without paying (this will intice people to join because of posting quality).

Yes you can raise the warriors status to more amount of posts.....but are people not spamming because they want to achieve this status??? Would raising the required posts not cause even greater problem?
I joined this place a year ago because of the quality posting, Im mental about 'The Warriors' (1979) and I had a serious question to ask; the 'who is luther talking to' thread. This was back in the day where there were less rooms to post topics in - but I do like having the rooms we have now because it enable us to get to know each other better, exploring differnt cultures and backgrounds - these should stay!

I understand the force of this topic and it is a topic that needs voicing so those laim posters are aware of their constant stupidity, but in other ways I think it's vulgar - we are friends here and I have personally only once seen a topic which was offensive to another Warrior...so in this area we are doing great, we are not and should never be 'Haters' toon. I read every post on this topic full and due to the discussion I would like to see this in the 'forum comments' section and im not affraid to say that.
:doubt:

Good idea, but the off topic thread would be way overcrowded, if we didnt have all the other off topic threads. I bealive its good to keep them like a lot of people are saying, we get to know each other better, rather than have to pm somebody everytime your curious of something about that person. I think this is the best website in the world so far, i dont have my space, aim, or msn. Everitime i turn on my computer all i focuse on is this website, nothing more. But kartoon, and warchief i understand what youre triying to say, and its also great ideas. If we had to pay to log on, that would be a HUGE problem for me because my mom is like jigsaws mom, she doesnt let me sent payment, or give credit card info. If it was for me, i would spend all my earning to keep this website running. But something i really dislike is that some people have mixed in the game with the movie, saying Isnt vermin suppose to be warchief because he was the second member of the warriors. That really gets me kind of mad. Because the warriors movie is a movie thats been around way too long, its a classic, and the game is just a brawling game with our fans(the warriors in it) What im triying to say is that the movie and the game both have their own places and arent bound to mix each other up.

From my discussions with Toon and after reading your comments I will keep the "Interests" forums as I agree that it helps people to socialise. I realise that a large part of this forum is non-warriors related because we do have other things to talk to eachother about!

I'll reorganise the sections though.

Keep the ideas coming. I thought I'd just let you know the Interests / Off Topic is staying in some guise!  ;)

I like this forum and do not want to leave it or get booted off it cause 1. i am  a huge fan and 2. i will have nothin to do i dont care about any change you make WC but i really want this site to stay. I'm about to be a Warrior rank and i am looking forward to it of course who wouldn't be but thats not why i am here. The whole ranking system is a nifty little feature but i just like posting here and talking with friends. Don't know if anyone knows this but everyone around me Family,Friends and everyone i know has never heard of The Warriors and they don't plan on seeing it. Everytime i talk about it around them they get mad and continue about somthing else. But anyway back to my point no one around me knows about it so this site is the only place that has friends that actualy understand what i'm saying.

As for the money fee i don't think many of us would like cause my parents and i'm sure alot of other people think this our parents will not pay just to talk on a forum this is what my parents will say. " I'm not gonna pay money every month for you to talk to people you dont even know ". Go ahead make every change you want WC but please dont do that fee.

I'm with one idea thats been said already it's if you want to join give a Quiz that will determin if they are a true fan or not. It should be an intreresting feature.
