Our local news channel has reported that owners of the Cyclone roller coaster have admitted several people were seriously hurt and suffered whiplash while riding the coaster a couple of weeks ago. The Cyclone has been closed with a sign stating "Closed for annual maintenence". The injuries were kept hush hush.
I haven't seen anything in the paper, but if I do I'll post it.

COVER UP AT THE CYCLONE
Here is the original story, before the truth came out:

The big thrill is gone from Coney Island - at least for now.
Astroland has put its twisting, turning, heart-stopping Cyclone roller coaster out of commission for repairs, manager Mark Blumenthal said yesterday.
"Oh, n-o-o-o-o," said fans of the outdoor amusement industry's most famous ride.
Blumenthal explained that a long, hot summer and lots of action took its toll on the 78-year-old national landmark, forcing a shutdown until at least the end of the week.
He said the electrical system was being tuned up and some parts replaced.
"It's just a minor thing," said Blumenthal. "Things like this happen from time to time."
But why now, bemoaned throngs who flocked to Coney Island over the holiday weekend with visions of flying around the Cyclone's 2,640 feet of track at 60 mph after that first screaming, white-knuckle, 85-foot drop.
"Aw, this rots," announced Sally Waggoner, 18, as she and Sam Edward-Jenks, 20, both of Brooklyn, glumly read the white sign that simply said: "Cyclone closed today."
"We rode the Cyclone three times for my birthday last month and it was awesome, so we decided to come back and were looking forward to it for days," said Edward-Jenks.
"This is really disappointing," said Waggoner.
That was the consensus of the throngs who moaned or groaned or muttered an unprintable word or two after seeing the sign.
But Manissa Maharawal, 22, of Brooklyn, was willing to show some patience.
"I'm going to be here next week," she vowed.

I can certainly see someone getting whiplash on the Cyclone, cause it's just not a gentle ride like those sissy boy coasters at six flags. Plus you just have that little lap bar to hold you in that doesn't stop you from gettin' tossed side to side on the turns.
I guess it takes a true warrior to ride the Cyclone. Those tourists that got whiplash are just goin' faggot.

An injury to the neck cause from violently moving your head either back and forth or side to side. You wind up wearing one of those neck braces for a few weeks and it is very painfull.whats whiplash...
Whiplash is an injury most common found in automobile accidents, as you are violently thrown foward upon impact and then pulled back just as quick from the seatbelts (if you were lucky enough to be wearing them).
