I was at the library today and picked up a book on urban legends, so I was wondering what are some urban legends in your towns and or countries?
there is one in my town about this bridge that is supposedly haunted where a woman thought her baby was evil and threw it down into the creek below and after she felt guilty for it and went looking for it so supposedly every year on October 10th you can hear a woman calling for her baby and the baby crying.

Well they are a lot of them.  For instance the vanishing hitchhiker who when accompanied by strangers always seems to vanish, or the person who put a poodle in the microwave, the same for alligators in the sewers.  Urban legends at times are possible true, but are hard to trace back to there origins to make it a fact. They are usually crime stories, and can be an exaggerated tales of the truth.

I'm sure that everyone has heard of my area's urban legend. The Jersey Devil is soposedly living in the Pine Barrens over here in South Jersey. There are many varations of this story. That one movie called 13th Child couldn't have gotten it more wrong though.
When our family went down there i the station wagon and the pop-up they would scare me and my brother crazy. That's how they got us into bed at night. They would say that if we wern't in bed that The Jersey Devil would come after us all hungry.

That was pretty funny, the witch looked like a floating towel.  The newscaster was kinda hot though.
