It's really great how the film is put into context with what was happening in the city during it's release. A really good telling of the story for someone who hasn't seen the movie. My only complaint is how they got the death of Marcelino Sanchez wrong.

Yea, I have a problem with him not doing all the research, but I loved that article--it was great--thank you for sharing it with us!!
I found the original TIME mag. article on The Warriors in their "nation" section. I was so glad, thought I had lost it forever, my sister and I had a big argument, as she was telling my Mom how Time had said it was such a violent movie---and I knew that that was NOT what the time mag had said--and I kept telling her she really didn't read it---she skimmed it and supposed she knew what it said, but she did not read the actual words in the article. IT was an interesting breakfast conversation back in 79. I still remember it.
One other thing in the article, when he mentions about MB's career being dead before it started--I don't think that was actually the way it happened-He took Xanadu, because he wanted to be involved in a musical-even though they didn't let him sing, and not that Xanadu did NOT have problems-and Sonny was too fluffy for him-and-I actually liked his part in Megaforce--but while he did work steadily after Warriors---most of the reason he didn't become a big blockbuster type star is he turned down too many roles---He got married just before Xanadu came out, and said in an interview, he did not accept any HOT love/nude scene type roles out of respect for his wife, and he wouldn't take roles that took him out of the country or too far away so she wouldn't have to travel around and live out of a suitcase, as they decided they were going to be together, and where he went she/family would go also. Have to respect him for his family orientated values--but it did not enhance his screen image or career at all--but he certainly can look himself in the mirror every day and say he supported his family and raised his kids and did it all his way with not very many compromises!! SIGH, but I wouldn't have minded a few more roles for him.
