Unraveling the threads of history

Post by emissary »

I have discovered that, in the old days, there were some very intriguing threads. I was not around for them but still have, obviously, an opinion. Also, its interesting how different "generations" had different feels to them. Like less fighting or more humor. It's cool to read some original threads back in time. You also see how every so many weeks, some ideas are basically recycled. You can't blame the person really. Like if someone discovers the site tomorrow and says "Warlord is the....." and another newer member says "No way it's...." I would just have to stay out of it and laugh. You too SHM.

Unraveling the threads of history

It's true how topics reappear from time to time. Understandable really as the first thing many people want to do is say who their favourite Warrior is. That comes up time and time again. The "Why did Ajax get busted so early?" is another favourite. I like reading all the new theories. One tip to people though is to search for a topic to see if it exists already as it makes it easier if things are kept together. For example, I think there is a "who is your favourite Warrior?" poll that I started when I set up the forum. I might have to hunt that one down to see if the same person is winning! 8)

Along those lines, this is an interesting place on many levels. I've been scanning over the memberlist and posts as far back as can be seen. It is common to see people join and charge through like a hurricane that lasts a few days and then, poof, they're gone. Others have obviously stayed the course as there is a fraternity of millenia that will be growing over the next 3 months. Also, the names are so varied and creative. It's like a parallel to the list of gang names in the movie.
Some come in and don't "get it" and they make some nonsense post and leave. But they become part of the history of the site. It's funny to see a name with 1 post who joined on the exact same date as Bobo or someone with similar numbers.
Anyway, when things are slow, it's always fun to go digging and read some long forgotten threads.(especially when they reach 212 degrees)

One more thing about the good old days. I was reading a thread started by "Atmospheric" about the Furies and I found it was mostly quality posting. Then it hit me. The Game. As exciting as it was to see the boys on the XBOX, it was bad for the "1979" threads in here. Before that abomination, there was no contamination of nonexistant back stories and "canon" arguments relying on game events. I wish I could go back in time and create the poll for Punks VS. Furies. Without the game influence, I think the Punks would win that poll.
