This might not be to everyones taste. It's pretty girly but hey, it's the only place I've ever found for Warriors fanfiction. Say what you will....I like it 8)
"Now for the latest news from the big city boppers. It seems the Gramercy Riffs have taken an unlikely softening of heart and are sharing their turf with the newest clique to be added to their network. The Gramercy Harlots are a girl only gang that can bop with the best of them, so if you're looking for some entertainment of the curve kind drop them a line and head down to Gramercy to pay your respects. Adios!"
The radio in the corner of the Coney Island Warriors hang out was blaring its usual announcements to do with the streets, the smooth voice of the DJ cutting through the noise of card games, the pin ball machine and various conversations. Mercy sat on the make shift box seat infront of the window, looking out onto the streets of Coney. With a small, contented smile she watched the world go by. Police officers questioning what some of the guys were doing hanging around, kids making their way to the Wonder Wheel, dealers on the corner. Granted Coney Island wasn't exactly full of glamour but it was where she now called home and she wasn't asking for any more than that.
The news of a new girl gang that had risen through the ranks interested her. She wasn't a femenist but she didn't take any shit, especially from men, so she liked the fact there was another girl gang that wasn't just the Lizzies. From the sounds of things, The Lizzies were small time in comparison.
With a clatter the doors to the hangout opened and Swan, Rembrant and Snow walked in from patrol. Mercy smiled as Swan walked over to her.
"Hey, what you doin'?" He asked, sitting down next to her as Mercy swung her legs down and out of the way.
"Nothin', Just watchin' the world go by and listenin' to the radio" She said "Apparently theres a new gang moved into Gramercy alongside the Riffs" Swan looked sceptical.
"The Riffs would never share their turf with another gang!" He exaclaimed. Mercy shrugged her shoulders.
"Well Maisi will have his reasons. It's an all girl gang called the Harlots" She said, streching her arms up and arching her back. She stood up and smoothed down her skirt and hair.
"I'm going to go out for a walk before I head back to the appartments. I'll see you later" She said. Swan nodded.
"Alright, be careful" He said, recieving a kiss on the cheek. He watched as she made her way out of the building, saying goodbye Vermin and Rembrant on her way.
Swan pondered for a moment. A new gang thats high on the Riffs radar was not something to be taken lightly, the biggest gang in New York City didn't share turf as a rule. Swan guessed there must have been some arrangement between the two leaders. Swan stood up and walked over to the table where Vermin, Rembrant and Cochise were sitting playing a card game.
"Read em boys!" Cochise explained, throwing his hand on the table. Vermin scowled and threw his cards down too.
"Bullshit, you must be cheating!" He said. Rembrant said nothing but just collected the cards together and began to shuffle. Cochise grinned as he pulled the small pile of money in the middle of the table toward him.
"Well thats it, you've practically cleaned me!" Vermin said. He looked towards Swan, "You want in Swan?" Swan shook his head.
"No, I have a job for you boys. I need you to go down to Gramercy. We're going to pay our respects to this new gang thats on the Riffs turf" Rembrant looked nervous and he pulled on his vest just a little bit.
"Can we do that? Just march down there?" Swan nodded.
"We're not invading, we're visiting. The Riffs hold us in high regard after the night of the meeting anyway. They won't say anything" He said, looking around the table to check that each man understood.
"When do we go then?" Vermin asked.
"Tomorrow. Get yourselves together, i'll send the word down. I want them to know that you guys are coming down" Swan said before walking away from the table, leaving the three men to sit and finish their card games.
---------------------------------------------
The subway ride was slow and uneventful. While Rembrant was tagging everything in sight and Cochise was going on about all the girls he was going to go for, Vermin was just bored. He hated trains and he was hoping that this journey was all worth it in the end. The train pulled to a stop and the three of then stepped onto the platform. Cochise scanned the small crowd but couldn't find anyone matching the description they were told to meet.
"Where is this girl? How are we meant to know where the hell we're going" He exclaimed annoyed. Rembrant sighed.
"All we can do is wait I guess" Rembrant said as he walked over to a wall, pulling a can of red spray paint from his bag and checking around him to be sure he was clear to spray. Vermin looked around.
"Well there isn't anyone here, so we may as well go wait outside. See who we can see, you know?" He said. Cochise nodded and signaled to Rembrant.
She cursed to herself as she marched down the street towards the subway station. The meeting Maisi had called had taken up almost all of her day. It wasn't that she regretted the turf share but Maisi had certainly been a little too attentive and was breathing down her neck a lot. She flipped her long, straight, brunette hair behind her shoulder as she walked, her old Doc Martins pounding off the ground. In the distance she could see three figures standing outside the subway station, each of them wearing what looked like a dark red leather vest. She figured that they were her guests. Suddenly from no where a hooded figure ran infront of her, a flick knife in his hand. She stopped in her tracks and raised her hands slightly.
"Give me all your cash!" The figure barked at her, his eyes barely visible from under the grey hood. Robin sighed in annoyance. She really wasn't in the mood.
"Sugar, look at what I'm wearing" she said indicating her ripped bootcut jeans and cropped black fitted waistcoat showing her bare midriff "Do you really think I have any place to keep a large ammount of cash?" The figure snarrled.
"You think I won't stick you? C'mon hand it over!" Robin was getting frustrated and wished the punk would just suddenly disappear.
"Look, I'm really not in the mood for this!" She said through gritted teeth, her fists clenching and unclenching. A hand fell on the figures shoulder and he was spun around to be face to face with Vermin.
"You know it's not nice to pick on girls" He quipped before landing a hard right hook to the mans jaw, knocking him out cold. He gave his hand a shake before looking at Robin.
"You guys must be the Coney Island Warriors then?" She said. Vermin shot her a charming smile.
"Thats right, i'm Vermin and this is Rembrant and Cochise" He said, indicating the two men respectively. Robin smiled.
"I'm Robin and I'm the Harlots leader. Sorry i'm a little late I got held up. Follow me" She said nodding in the direction of the Harlots side of Gramercy.
----------------------------------
"So whats the deal you have going on with the Riffs" Cochise asked. Robin smiled to herself.
"I knew that would get asked eventually, every gang who's came by for a visit has asked that. It's pretty simple. The Harlots make most of their bread through escort services"
"You deal in prostitution?!" Rembrant exclaimed "Isn't that weird, girls selling girls?" Robin shook her head.
"Not at all, the girls are taken care of. They have their own appartments and bedrooms and are generally looked out for. The workers are the girls in the denim hotpants and white tees and the soldiers and the girls in these vests" Cochise nodded.
"Alright I get it, but how'd you talk Maisi into sharing turf?" Robin laughed lightly.
"I didn't, he offered. The deal is that the Riffs get a small slice of profit and free entertainment for parties and in return we get half of their turf and a few well maintained appartment buildings" Vermin smiled to himself. It did seem like the perfect set up. As they walked along the street he noticed girls in white tshirts and girls in Harlot vests, each of them acknowlodging Robin in some way.
"Seems pretty perfect" He said. Robin shot him a sweet smile.
"It does seem perfect doesn't it? To be honest, you three are the first delegates from a Gang that hasn't tried to suck up. You guys are pretty cool" Cochise gave her a toothy grin.
"Hey baby, thats the kinda guys we are" Robin stopped and turned to him, raising an eyebrow.
"Alright, I said you were cool...that doesn't mean you can call me baby"
They slowed down and made their way into an appartment building behind Robin, passing by girls as they went. Rembrant blushed furiously and tried to hide it as a small blonde girl smiled at him and gave a small wave. Robin moved next to him.
"Her name is Melody if you want to know and she's single" she said into Rembrants ear. He gave her a shy smile and then looked back towards Melody who was still smiling at him. With a nudge from Cochise he walked over to the blonde and started talking to her.
They reached the top appartment that was decorated pristenely in comparison to the rest of the place. A number of girls were hanging out, some playing cards and some just talking.
"Wow, this place is really nice" Vermin said, leaning against the kitchen counter as Robin took some beers out of the fridge. She handed him and Cochise one each and looked around herself.
"Yeah its not bad. Maisi sent his boys around to clean the place up. Totally wasn't needed though" She said taking a swig of her beer. Cochise was making eyes at a tall black girl with Corn rows while Robin was leaning on the counter next to Vermin. The juke box had started and a few of the girls were dancing.
"Looks like i'm having a party then" Robin muttered under her breath. She took another drink then put the bottle down.
"Thats not a bad thing" Vermin said. Robin smiled.
"It's not a bad thing but it means i'll have some Riffs up here and that means Maisi might show up..." Vermin took a swig of his beer, his eyes looking straight ahead at the party that was starting.
"Is that a bad thing?" Vermin asked. Robin giggled and picked up her beer again.
"Not really" She said turning her head to face him, her smile lighting up her features "He's just so serious!" She said scrunching up her nose in distaste. He didn't know why but there was something strangely attractive in that small action and he started to take a closer look at her features. Her eyes were a dark green that seemed to sparkle against the back drop of her lightly tanned skin and her smile made her face light up. She was toned in all the right places too, her midriff baring button up vest showing it off to full advantage.
"I gotta say, you girls don't look like any other girl gang I've ever seen" Vermin said, giving her a quick look up and down. Robin smirked and flipped her long brunette hair over her shoulder.
"Lets be honest sugar, the only other girl group you've ever seen are The Lizzies and we are a totally different class from them. Don't get me wrong, we're tough girls but we're still girls. Gotta show a little bit of class don't you think?" she said with a raised eyebrow. Vermin laughed.
"Class? You run a prostitution ring!" Robin raised a finger to him as a signal for him to stop talking.
"We prefer to call it an escort service" She turned towards the fridge and pulled out another two beers, pulling the caps off and handing one to Vermin.
"As I said, we're in a whole different league from the Lizzies" she took a swig from her bottle, Vermin fixed on her. He nodded.
"Yeah, right" He said quietly. Suddenly a voice from across the room broke his attention. One of Robins girls was shouting her name.
"Robin, Maisi and some of his boys are here" The girl called from the doorway. Robin rolled her eyes, the easy going smile dropping from her face.
"Great" She muttered under her breath before turning towards Vermin "Wanna come out and lend a little moral support?" She asked with a hopeful smile. He took a long drink of his beer before setting it down on the counter behind him.
"Sure, why not?" He said with a smile. Robin sighed as she heard her name being shouted from the stairwell again. With a cheeky smile she grabbed Vermins hand and began to make her way down to meet Maisi.
---------------------
It was cold outside now that the sun had finally set and Robin shivered as she walked outside. Maisi stood in his usual Gi top and sunglasses, Robin wondering why he felt the need to wear them even while it was dark. Behind him were 15 Riffs in Orange Gi's, all looking as stern as he did.
"Maisi, how nice of you to drop by" Robin said, forcing a light hearted tone. She was getting sick of him constantly breathing down her neck. Sure she was sharing his turf but it wasn't like she wasn't paying for it. The Riffs got a good ammount of profit from the Harlots buisness.
"I'm just checking in. A few of my boys told me a party was starting and I figured I could take the night off" He said. Robin couldn't tell if he was happy or sarcastic or angry. His facial expression never changed. Robin smiled none the less.
"Well come on in, the party is going through the whole appartment block so just go and fall out" she said. Maisi suddenly turned his attention to Vermin.
"I was wondering when some Warriors were going to show up, is Swan with you?" He asked. Vermin shook his head.
"No, He sent three of us. The other two are inside" Maisi nodded.
"When you get back tell Swan I wish to speak with him" Vermin nodded but thought it best to not say anything else. Maisi made his way inside followed by his Riffs and when they finally cleared the doorway Robin sat herself down on the concrete stairs. Vermin sat down next to her.
"You not going to go back inside?" He asked. Robin shook her head and reached into her pocket, pulling out a joint.
"I have a better idea" She said holding it up for Vermin to see. He smiled and nodded. "Besides, I don't know how much more of Maisi I can take" She said, lighting up and taking a long draw. She passed it to Vermin who did the same.
"He seems to be pretty fond of you" He commented, exhaling and passing the lit joint back to Robin. She sighed and inhaled again, enjoying the foggy feeling that was coming with it.
"A little too fond. Theres rumours that he wants a 'union'" she said, using air quotes "I mean how depressing does that sound? He can't even say something as normal as 'I want to date someone', No, He wants a union" Vermin reached over and took the joint from her hand, taking a long inhale. After a moment he exhaled again, his mind also begining to fog.
"What does that even mean?" Robin giggled.
"I don't even know! I think he's looking for the two gangs to kinda merge, to become a power couple" She shivered in the cold and wrapped her arms around herself. "It's pathetic, people just don't work that way!" She exclaimed. She shivered again and this time Vermin moved closer to her.
"Cold?" He asked. She nodded while taking another draw. Vermin put his arm around her shoulders and she leaned into him. He wasn't sure if it was the weed that was making the moment feel perfect of the fact he had his arm around a pretty brunette but Vermin hadn't been this comfortable in a long time.
"Well you know he's a good guy, he's could really take care of you" Vermin said quietly. Robin shook her head and giggled.
"I'm not looking for someone to take care of me and yeah he's a good guy but he's so serious! I'm too laid back for that kind of personality" She said. Vermin finished the last of the joint, flicking the end away and watching as it sparked bouncing along the road.
"You know, I totally could have taken that guy earlier tonight" She said out of the blue. Vermin laughed.
"I'm sure you could have, but i'm not the kind of guy to sit back and watch a girl get robbed" Robin sat up from Vermins chest and raised her hand to silence him.
"Yeah but I wouldn't have been robbed because I would have stopped him!" She said with a smug smile. Her smile was returned causing her to blush and look away from him. She felt his hand suddenly gently on her chin, pulling her round towards him and his lips on hers in a gentle kiss. She suddenly coudn't comprehend where she was or what she was doing but she knew she didn't want it to end. Her arms snaked around his neck and she felt his hand leave her chin and him arms wrap around her waist. As the kiss deepened, all of Robins thoughts drifted away and all she could concentrate on was Vermin and his body against hers. Not the cold air or the sound of the party in the back ground. It wasn't until she heard her name being called from the door way that she stopped and pulled away.
"Robin!" The girl shouted from the doorway "Ah, you finally come up for air! Maisi is looking for you!" Robin sighed.
"Where is he?" The girl shrugged.
"Last I was told, on the 3rd floor, in one of the apartments. You're lucky, you know what he would have done if he'd caught you" Robin scowled, her arms were still around Vermin and his arms were still wrapped around her waist, her chest pressed against his.
"He'd have done nothing! He's not my boyfriend!" Robin exclaimed. The girl shrugged again and flipped her hair.
"Hey, don't shoot the messenger! I've done my job so go see him if you want!" she said before going back to the party. Robin and Vermin sat in silence for a moment until Vermin spoke up.
"So you gonna go?" He said quietly, silently hoping that she'd say no. She turned to him with a devilish grin.
"Nope, I have a better idea" she said quickly standing up and grabbing his hand. They ran up two flights of stairs before she pulled him into one of the apartments.
"So whats this bright idea of yours?" He said. With her back to a door she opened it and without saying a word she pulled Vermin inside by the vest, shutting the door after her.
