Re: The Warriors in High Definition
I've just got a PS3 but unfortunately you can't get The Warriors as region 2 bluray! Grrrr.
I bought a HD DVD player a week or so ago, but took it back since HD DVD has pretty much now been dropped by everyone except Paramount and Universal. I believe Paramount are switching to Blu in the near future.

Re: The Warriors in High Definition
Oh Wow! I'll deff be putting the HD-DVD on my list. I'm really hoping that wins the format war thats starting to rage between the two different players especially since it has an effect on my chosen career (I.e sound engineering and video/audio production)
Personally I'm banking on HD-DVD since it's actually better value than the Blu-ray and more stable. I mean a triple layer DVD can store 51Gb as opposed to only 17 on a normal DVD and 45Gb on a Blu-Ray.
Basically these disks use shorter lazer wavelengths so they can run faster and store more information. To me the Blu-ray players are far too over priced, they cost about 20% more than HD-DVD and don't work as well
(but thats me speaking from a professional stand point. Rockstar only use HD)

Well, normally you can change the "region" options (both HD-DVD and DVD), but I think you guys just know it!!!Lion wrote:Are you serious Gareth?War Chief wrote: I've just got a PS3 but unfortunately you can't get The Warriors as region 2 bluray! Grrrr
But yeah, Bluray is another story... and they're now exaggerating, I think!!! No, I'm sure!!!
It's always the same problem, I mean they want we to buy a new DVD or HD or Bluray or etc... reader, a new game station, a new "everything"... every time they make something more developed!!!
Plus, Paramount, Universal and so on... do have (almost sure!!!) a deal with the "all kind of readers" brands. I know it's a business, yeah, but it's just a shame!!! 8)

So now it sucks even more,That you would have to get Both Players, because
Warner Brothers,is only sticking to this format.. Below is The Press Release from Warner Brothers..
Press Release from Warner Home Video:
(January 4, 2008 – Burbank, CA) – In response to consumer demand, Warner Bros. “Warner Bros.’ move to exclusively release in the Blu-ray disc format is a strategic decision focused on the long term and the most direct way to give consumers what they want,â€

Either way I don't get this hd stuff, I don't think it looks much better than just a normal dvd.

Yeah, I've got no games at the moment as I am happy playing on the 360. Feel free to add me if you have a 360 (gamertag = Gareth P Jones) yeah imaginative I know!Lion wrote:Are you serious Gareth?War Chief wrote: I've just got a PS3 but unfortunately you can't get The Warriors as region 2 bluray! I am sure we'll get it over here eventually. To be honest, I am not at all impressed with the amount of films on blu-ray that are worth buying. I have SuperBad and that's about it! Still the PS3 upscales DVD's superbly.

Re: The Warriors in High Definition
I still prefer normal dvd to be honest, i mean £30 for something that has slightly better quality over something for £5 with slightly less quality and many other features, i know which one i prefer.

Re: The Warriors in High Definition
HD-DVD over here has the exact same ammount of features as a normal DVD and doesn't cost that much extra. A normal DVD is about £10 while an HD-DVD is sitting about £18 at the moment. If its a film I really really love, I reckon its worth it!Frank_Castle wrote: I still prefer normal dvd to be honest, i mean £30 for something that has slightly better quality over something for £5 with slightly less quality and many other features, i know which one i prefer.

Re: The Warriors in High Definition
Problem is at the moment both kinds of players (Unless you get a PS3 or Xbox 360) are way too expensive but hey, DVD players fell in price quickly so heres hoping one of the formats do so the country can make a choice!
