Anyone remember a movie called Defiance?
Hey there,
Was wondering if any of you folks remember a movie called "Defiance" which came out aout the same time The Warriors did, actually a year thereafter. Pretty good movie in its own right and was about a gang of thugs terrorizing a small community in NYC, until the residents unite and fight back. Best part was near the end when it looked like Jan Michael Vincent, Danny Aiello and friends were abut to get their arses handed to them and then....., "heck, I won't spoil the rest if you haven't seen it". Don't get me wrong it doesn't offer up the impact of the Warriors, the cool costumes, well remembered lines or has any cult like following but it does deserve honorable mention. If you haven't seen it, just a suggestion from the newbie Warrior member that you might want to check it out. PS: This is the 1980 film, not the new Defiance flick which was made in 2008 and pertains to a totally different subject. ~Peace and God Bless~.

I've not seen it, but sounds like something worth tracking down. The only other gang movie I can remember Jan Michael Vincent being in, is a film called Enemy Territory. It's on youtube if you cant find a copy.

Hey there guys,
No it's not on dvd as of yet, I have it on an old VHS. But trust me on this, I think you fellas would like it. Takes place in NY, the gang (The Souls) are basically terrorizing the people living there. Jan Michael Vincent takes a pretty good role in it as the hero who fights back. Also stars Theresa Saldana. On a side note, not sure if you guys know this but Theresa Saldana was almost killed by a stalker about 2 years after filming this movie. She was one of the 1st of the movie star stalker victims to publicly come out and she founded the Victims for Victims organization and participated in lobbying for anti-stalking laws. Anyway the movie is a good one if you can find it. I think they have clips of the movie on Youtube, (punch in Defiance 1980). However, someone put in a Michael Jackson soundtrack over the clips and basically killed it for viewing purposes. ~Peace out and God Bless~

4nik8, I was just curious if you ever did get the message in regards to the Cochise outfit I sent over? ~Peace out~.

I did get the message, but at first i thought you were a spammer, as we've been inundated of late70's flashbacks wrote:4nik8, I was just curious if you ever did get the message in regards to the Cochise outfit I sent over? ~Peace out~.
However, to answer your question, i do not own any the recently sold Cochice pieces - what led you to believe I had?

Hey there 4nik8, sorry I must have mis-read what one of the other members wrote when reading about the Cochise wardrobe and thought that you had owned it. Back to school for me, geez that's a long ago memory! Anyway there's many viewpoints on original items from the film, but it seems most members differ on what they feel about it. So I'm trying to find someone knowledgeable to the subject or who owns or has owned something from the film. I do thank you for your reply, and I'm sorry to have thrown you off by the question. What a good start on the board for me, by confusing the other members, ha, ha. ~Peace out and God Bless~.

To my knowledge, the only member that owns anything of the original outfit is Colpin (cochise's arm bands and belt).

Re: Anyone remember a movie called Defiance?
Finally got around to watching this as part of my cheesy NY gang movie double bill (the other being the Exterminator).
Its a typical low budget made for tv movie so as long as you dont set your expectations high, its tolerable.
Jan Michael Vincent plays a jobless sailor whom rents a cheap appartment on a block thats on the Savage Souls turf.
After a few bully boy encounters against the minor cast, the other locals finally team up with Mr Airwolf after the local simpleton (wacky the retired boxer who's been punched in the head too many times, but in my opinion, his only real handicap is that he looks like Jay Leno) gets thrown off a roof (which isnt shown as the budget couldnt stretch to a dummy in a boxing robe to toss over the side). Locals include a gang of ex jocks called the sportsman (their gang colors are a grey cloud with a lightning bolt that looks like it was painted by an 8 year old. What that design has to do with sports is not known).
Theres a couple of location shots to satisfy your fix for late 70s NY.
Exterminator faired better. Co starring the black and blue baseball fury and Ajax's least favorite cop. Irwin Keyes plays a gang member and if you watch this, you'll understand why he didn't get the role to play Ajax.
