Because he's a successful hollywood director.

Steven Spielburg and Jerry Brukheimer both turned the oppurtunity down for unknown reasons.

I think its because they're billionaires and MTV/Paramount only offered a 120 million dollar budget..

Spielburg wont take a flick unless he's getting the 8 figures himself.

Anyway...

It's just so cheap that they're trying to get a buzz off of the original by using the title only. If they want to make a good movie about gangs fine but call it something else.

its pretty simple he knows the original had a huge following ,even to this day so he is simply gonna CASH in on it ,thinking hell tweek itand modernise it and people will come flocking to see it WRONG,hes ruining the purity of the original

I can't see how anybody in great numbers is going to pay to see the new movie based only on the fact that they liked the original. As soon as it is released and starts getting reviewed people are going to know it's bogus so the title ain't gonna help at all. Maybe all the really dumb people that got into the game and don't know how to find the original to buy will think the 2006 is THE one. That's a long shot though.

I'll wait till it's on like HBO for free.

I agree they should give it a different title and not stay with 'The Warriors' as it will bring shame to the old classic.
I mean,they're doing enough by basing the movie on the old one,so that should be enough!

I don't think it will have any effect or even be compared to the orginal.

I think they will end up making an entirely different movie with the same name.
I think they will each stand alone with no comparisons or even being mentioned in the same sentence together.

The original will always stand on its own merit, and nothing will make much difference to the way the fans who love it view it.

the 2006 warriors movie, either people will like it for what it is, or they won't be able to stand it at all. But I doubt in 25 years they will still be talking about the 2006 movie the way we will still be talking about the 1979 movie.
