Hey, y'all anybody remember this one? I was scared s---less after every episode as a kid, yet I still watched it faithfully. Back in the day, they'd show it back to back w/Monsters, which Deborah Van Valkenburgh starred in one episode of. Think you remember? Maybe this'll jog your memory.
This may have been mentioned in a real old post; I couldn't find it though
Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage...
I remember it and still see an episode occasionally thrown in a weird time like 4AM on Sci Fi. Tales was kinda Twilight Zone with an attitude- a bit darker and stranger.
Oh God I loved Tales from the Darkside-I was in HS/college when it came on, and would RUN to the tv room to make sure no one got there that wouldn't change the channel!
the one about the EarWig--still freaks me out--Goodness---I still remember some of them.
Hey Ranchgal, was "The Shadowman" a Tales From The Darkside episode, or one of the other series that was out around that time.
Thats the one where some nerdy kid suddenly gets popular because he isn't afraid to go out at night with the Shadowman running loose killing all the nieghborhood kids. (The Shadowman can't hurt the kid that sleeps in the bed he comes out from under)
Of course in the end, the kid gets his as he meets up with a Shadowman from under someone else's bed
The music from this show freaked me out. I remember only bits and pieces. Like one episode had a killer, living, garbage disposal. It was a dark show. Unlike Tales from the crypt which had so much comic relief. TFTDS had none. RG, did you like Friday the Thirteenth the series? It was about an antique store that had sold enchanted antiques and now had to get them back. It was very well done I thought.
"When we see the ocean we figure we're home, we're safe."
MarlboroProjects---I don't remember it as part of Tales---but that doesn't mean it wasn't, just that I am not recalling---so I can't really say, the jist of it sounds like it certainly could have been though. spooky stuff.
Emissary--
I am not a fan of the Friday the Thirteenth Movies---slasher stuff doesn't make it, so I don't think I paid much attention to series when it was on. Didn't make the disconnection between the two.
I seem to go in streaks---and if something good comes on when I am in one of my DRY spells, when I just leave the tv off---I completely miss it--and then when I find out about it, I am so ticked!! the antique angle strikes me though, so I am sure I have seen a couple, just can't remember enough to comment on the show itself.
You know the irony for me was that I used to love the Jason movies and was psyched when I saw this series coming called FTT the series. At first I was so disappointed because it had absolutely nothing to do with Jason. And now, I would much prefer to see the series. One of my favorite episodes had this guy who owned this antique slide projector which enabled you to go to wherever the slide displayed. So he would go to the Civil War and bring back items which he sold for large sums of money. Of course his greed caught up to him as the two stars of the show turned off the projector and left him back in time.(Andersonville)
Oh and in one other really scary one, these kids had this playhouse that would create an alternate universe for them everytime they brought someone to it.
"When we see the ocean we figure we're home, we're safe."
i want Tales From The Darkside out on DVD.. *sighs*
man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality - but.. there is, unseen by most, an underworld.. a place that is just as real but not as brightly lit.. a Darkside
