I always thought he meant your crazy as in I'll whip you, but the only reason he would whip swan is because he has a gun. Its fairly obvious the rogues are cowards from the get go so, ill have to disagree with SHM the line works, it just shows their true colors, all of the rogues are cowards thats why they get along.emissary wrote: I've changed my view of what he meant. Re: The One Thing I Hate, About The Warriors!!
In light of Kartoon's recent memo, I thought it would be good to get some of the better and older topics back to th front page to get the opinions of new memebers, so I think this thread would be a pretty good start. it's not that old seeing as how the last post was in February, but you gotta start somewhere *shrugs*
I always saw the "One-on-one? You're crazy" line as Luther not wanting to get his skull cracked, but I think it was logic and not so much cowardice that kept him and his crew from throwing down with the Warriors. Sure a psychopath with a gun and no honor is definately going to logically see "gun vs fist" as a better option than "fist vs fist", but what sane person wouldn't either?
I always thought Luther backed down from Swan because of his experiense with Cleon, and not so much cowardice. If you think about it, when Luther saw the 'Warriors' logo on Cleon's back, he probably just figured they were some run-of-the-mill street clowns in vests, who probably chose to call themselves "warriors" 'cuz they though it was cool, and figured them to be easy "fall guys" to place the blame on. But after he took that elbow to the face and watched Cropsey and that other goon go down, he had to know that the "Warriors" was the code they lived by and not just a name on some dope's vest.
So imagine, one guy single-handedly lays out a third of your crew, and it takes a group of heavy soldiers from [glow=red,2,300]the biggest gang in the city[/glow] to put him down for good. If one guy could do that, how much damge could 8 more of them do? Add to that, you're later constantly getting word of this same gang, who even after losing that incredibily tough fighter that kicked the crap out of you earlier as well as more soldiers, is still bopping their way past gang after gang through the city.
And without imagining all that, we actually know how much damage the Warriors did and are capable of doing (forget the fights, they [glow=red,2,300]Blew Up [/glow] a car for God's sake!).
So after thinking about all that, ask yourself, honestly, even if you're so honorable that it borders on foolish pride....How eager would you be to face off with the Warriors hand to hand if you had a gun?

Re: The One Thing I Hate, About The Warriors!!
Well I for one like Luther and his funny gestures. But at the end he's a wimp. He ends up getting pwn3d with a switch blade to the hand. Sure it'd hurt like hell but I'm sure Luther could have gotten up and shot them up if the Riffs didn't show up. But it was a revolver, so he'd have to have shot the Warriors and he'd prolly rape Mercy. Unless he'd have to fight Swan and then the Rogues would be without they're leader so they'd be lost in away. So then Swan would have to pick up Mercy and Run Like Hell to grab as many Warriors to fight the Rogues. Just then you see the Riffs come by and beat the crap outta the Rogues. That would have been a better ending. Think about it. Unless Luther was too cheap to buy bullets then I guess the previous statements would be out of the question.
And to his other question/ comment. Yeah I saw some other gang members follow the Warriors path. My theory is that they may have gotten busted or since Rem and Fox went last, They may have gotten there late, and took some other route.

Yeah, like some of you say, its a shame the rouges follow, and listen to luther, Well its a shame hes the leader of the rouges. If you want to rin a crew out there, you have to show strenght, and dont let anybody see that youre actually scare. As a leader, he is the role model of the rouges, and having a little one on one with swan, and him being scrared, its just wrong. I guess ill never understand this.

Well he knew Swan would of torn him apart, even him blaming the Warriors for Cyrus's death was lame! He was twisted and so were his goons!

I would have liked it better if the Warriors wasted the Rogues and then have the Riffs and Masai say the same lines. Always felt bad that the Warriors never got a chance to get even with the Rogues directly.

"Next to him, Luther probably sounded like James Earl Jones."
That's funny, I just had this image of James Earl Jones' voice coming from the Rogues' hearse.? "Wahrriors...do come out to play."

It always bothered me how young people of today think gangs were really like that back than, and do not realize that its meant to be cartoonish, but yet real. It even annoys me how, someone actual believed that going to the warriors screening dressed like a gang member from the movie would actually pose a threat to the cops and real gangs, were clearly it looks like you are dressed up for halloween. I like how some of us actually know the difference between this movie and reality, and there are those who ruin it for us, and try to actually live it.

A lot of great posts on this topic. It's nice being a "new blood" because I can spend time reading all of the posts in most of the topics and it's all new.
I always interpreted Luther's line as Swan being crazy because Luther pulls out the gun. As a kid growing up when the movie was released, I hated Luther for what he did to Cyrus and The Warriors. As I got older, I came to appreciate his character. Like a teenager trying to find himself, looking to prove himself, looking for someone to impress. Today, I love Luther. I love the way David Patrick Kelly played him. He becomes Luther. The bottle scene at the end is a classic. What a pyscho! To me, it's one of the best acting jobs I have ever seen.

Next to him, Luther probably sounded like James Earl Jones.SNOW4 wrote: I know i hate that part it's stupid they follow such a whimp i think Cropsey should have taken over or somthing.
No what i think is he didn't want to get in a fight with all of luthers goons even if they were freinds the goons follow luther.

Re: The One Thing I Hate, About The Warriors!!
Reading all these posts makes me think Luther ran out of pocket change. He must have or he would have called whoever he calls and learned that the Riffs were after him and it was time to fill the hearse with gas and point it towards MEXICO!
