try more like $3 and that includes the price of packaging.

i know this sounds crazy but if you haven't opened your purple furies, i'd return them and ask for a refund.

if everyone here does it, it'll send a message to toywiz.

if members here continue to buy from them, they'll continue to do what they're doing, and you'll have no one to blame but yourselves.

I know it's an aside, BUT- I'm sure Mezco is only paying 3-4 a figure, but from my days of running comic book stores, I know for a fact that on toys, most retailers only get 50% off retail at the most.  So, if a Warriors figure is supposed to retail for 19.99, they're probably paying $10 or so...And considering they asked Mezco for exclusive paint jobs, I wouldn't be suprised if Toywiz is paying up to $10 a figure on their Purple variants...Having Mezco do a super exlcusive short-run figure like the green fury could conceivably run them 20-50 a figure.  And, keep in mind, Mezco itself has to cover their licensing fees to Paramount.  I'm not, however defending Toywiz in any way...just making a super limited figure like that to begin with is what is wrong w/ a lot of the toy industry, and why I stopped collecting toys years ago.

You do gotta give them credit on one (AND ONLY ONE) front...they are contracting Mezco to have these figures made in the first place.

Which does in fact raise a question...how does someone go about getting an exclusive figure made?  Hmm...maybe I should look into that.

i couldn't disagree more.
i'm a buyer(thats what i do for a living) and it really depends on the product and how much the market will bare.  a toy like lego only as a 15%-20% markup.  meaning if you see a $100 lego set, the wholesale price is $80, while other toys have a slightly higher mark up give or take, but not by much.
video games and electronics has about the smallest mark up around 10-15% as its a volume business
furniture is marked up 200-300% mostly due to shipping and storage fees.
gifts like you'd find at crate and barrel usually have a 65% mark up.
clothing mark up can be anywhere from 10-400% depending on the manufacturer and the store itself....boutiques are always very expensive whereas marshalls is not.

i'm sure these didn't cost jack doodie simply based on the fact that they didn't even have to make a new mold, and everyone knows that thats where a bulk of the cost goes when manufacturing something.

Oh, we're doing apples and oranges here.

For the BIG BIG retail outlets like Wal-mart, Toy's R Us, Target...yes, those margins are thin...but they do the volume, so I'm not shedding any tears.  I'm talking about the smaller retailers or 'boutique' stores that carried the Warriors Figures to begin with...A comic book store lives on it's 50% margin...but barely.  Wal-mart can live on 10-20%, and quite well.

I don't think Mezco has broken into the large retailer market with any of its items, like Mattel and Hasbro.  Mezco is the neighborhood hot-dog stand of toy manufacturers...they pick up niche licenses, and sell to niche markets.
