Hey SoldierHeavyMuscle, I am down with that, because it reminds me of my old high school.  Coincidently I graduated from John Dewey High School, which is the Coney Island High school.  You see it opened up in 1969, and had a lot of race wars between the blacks and whites. Later more minorities came in, and you could feel the racial vibe.  My point is, that in the 1970's a group of students from different backgrounds got together because they were all sick, and tired of these stereotypical race wars.  So they started The. Council. For. Unity, which I also became apart of.  Sometimes when I would sit at the lunch table with my friends, I would look around and notice how everyone was racially divided into different sections.  Than I looked at how diverse me and my friends were.  Seeing that I was from a Hispanic, Arab, and European background, plus their nationalities, I was proud to be a part of that group, and that council.  I was sick of the ignorance and stupidity, of people racially seperating till this day.  Being part of that multi background group, I felt fortunate to be a part of, made me have a sense of The Warriors, and it did not matter what we were, because we all had our own unique personalities, that made us special, and proud to be in each others company.  This is why I love this movie so much, because its the fact that each individual is unique, and diverse, therefore I would have no other way.

one of the reasons, this movie worked, was because the warriors were a multi-race gang!!!
and if you think about it, it was, and still is, very groundbreaking!!
i'm not gonna go into 2 many details, but i grew up in a gang neighborhood.
and then, like today, gangs are almost always divided by color, and race.

it was a big deal then, and its a big deal, now.
to many things, if not all things, always come down to race.
and i for one, hate it.
and i grew up in an all black/hispanic neighborhood.
so figure that one out!! LOLOL

i always loved the fact, that they were a mixed gang.
it would have never been the same, any other way. ;)
Well said.  It's an escape from a lot of what really goes on "in the city".  I think it's rather unique as race is never mentioned in any dialogue.  That is part of why it's my favorite movie.

ive read the new version that has the movie cover, in the foward he discusses his backround and how he wrote the book, sol yurick to me came off as really selfcentered.  indeed he dismisses the movie, but after i read the book i realized that i would be upset too if my work was changed so much. my conclusion would be simple that the change in medium caused a need to change the text.  the result two completly different stories that can stand alone.
