sounds pretty cool but i'm not paying $10 an autograph, thats just lame.  autographs are supposed to be free last time i checked, then again i don't go to comic cons or any kind of con for that matter.  the place isn't too far so maybe i'll drop by....maybe.

I don't mind paying for autographs one bit. This money goes straight to them. Giving them $10 each for 27 years of enjoyment is a bargain as far as I am concerned. And $10 was just the last event, it could be more at Chiller. Chances are, they will keep them the same, but some guests charge as much as $25.00, and if it is a big name, it can even be more. I won't pay for just any autograph, but if the people are important to me in some way, I am happy too. That being said, my wallet wouldn't agree with me, but sometimes you just gotta say screw it. ;)

Unfortunatly, stars charging for their autograph seems to be the norm.  Im not sure if the information i was given holds any truth, but i was told most organizers of these type of events make an agreement with the stars that if they are hired at a reduced rate, they make up the money by charging to sign things.  Its something that may need looking into for when you guys organize conclave 09.

Wrestlers are the worst for this.  My mate went to birmingham n.e.c last year to see mick foley among others.  All mick was interested in was how fast the line was going so he could get as many £10 notes as possible.  The only time he interacted with the fans was when he blew his top because a young fan had taken his photo on a mobile phone without his permission and not payed him for one of the photos that mick was selling.

The bigger the name, the more likely they will charge.

Yes, some "stars" also charge to have their photo taken, but most would never do such a thing. At least not any with any class.

Harley, you should go! Vacation time! ;)

HOLY CRAP! THAT WOULD BE COOL TO GET OUT TO THAT...LOOK FOR AUTOGRAPHED POSTERS TO COME UP ON EBAY AFTERWARDS...NOT TOO OFTEN YOU GET THEM ALL TOGETHER LIKE THAT, I CAN'T BELIEVE EVERYONE WHO WILL BE THERE, JUST NO AJAX...STILL SHOULD RULE THOUGH...

WHAT DO YOU SAY WHEN YOU MEET THEM? THEY ARE THE WHOLE REASON I HAVE SEEN MOST OF NYC, I WENT TO CONEY IN THE SUMMER JUST TO RIDE THE WONDER WHEEL AND SEE THEIR TURF. THEY MAY THINK ITS DORKY, BUT THERE IS THIS TOTAL FACINATION WITH THE MOVIE...I WISH I COULD EXPLAIN IT, IF YOU ARE READING THIS YOU PROBABLY KNOW WHAT I MEAN...I WOULD LOVE TO MEET THEM, BUT...WHAT DO YOU SAY?

off topic but I have met a plethora of wrestlers and none of them ever charged for their autographs. I have met Mick on 2 separate occasions and neither time was he short tempered or anything heck of a guy when I met him

Ajax is too 'big' to show.  And he wants WAY too much cash to appear.

Funny thing, when we screened Clerks in Jersey, the stars there were nice enough to sign for hours for free!

Thanx for the link War Chief...

Had a great time yesterday...  The cast were really nice --  Terry Michos, Dorsey Wright & Apache Ramos were three of the nicest guys  you could meet!  Everyone else was nice too, but those three went above and beyond and really appreciated my interest in them...  Least liked Warrior - David "Cochise" Harris - he had a higher view of himself than the others...

Sad to say, the autographs and pictures with them are 20 bux...  Terry actually apologized to me about it, but they dont get any money from Chiller for their appearance -- They only get whatever they can make with signings... They werent jerks about it like some celebrities who think higher of themselves than they should tho...  Its part of the thing at Chiller -- you expect to pay for this stuff...  If you dont want to pay for it, try and find them walking around your city and they'll probably do it for free...  My friends dont understand it either - but its my "geek thing" LOL

Oh yeah, Thomas Waites & Jerry Hewitt weren't there...  There was some bad weather in town earlier yesterday and it must've scared them away...

I have been in touch with a couple of different celebrity promoters and they all book these shows and tell you upfront that the stars here charge for the autographs and photos, but a lot of times, they will sign what you bring in to them too on one charge.    A friend of mine got several things signed all at once by Michael Beck.
The prices seem to start about $10.00 and go up to around 45.00 depending on the star.  I know that one of the CSI stars was to one of his shows and he was getting $35.00 for his.

And if you can't make it, and get the pictures bought/signed there, I bought mine from the promoter, signed to me personally, but it costs $35.00 plus 5 shipping.  So if the autograph is valuable to you, it is cheap at the price to go to the shows--ebay gets a lot worse than that.

mostly just a sign of the times.  Nothing comes free anymore unless one is exceptionally lucky and happens to be in the right place at the right time to run into the right person and maybe get an signing for free.

Thanx for the info...  And good luck to Jerry!

Jerry was the one I wanted to talk to most...  He was also in the Wanderers (Ducky Boy fan here naturally) and he did stunts in a bunch of other movies with Punks Leader Konrad Sheehan who I interviewed a while back...
