Just watched the movie KICK-ASS and the mob boss is training in Karate and guess what he is wearing......an ORANGE Karate uniform. Damn you costume departments. I STILL can't find one. I yelled at the screen!!

Look @ the 1st production photo of the RIFFS, the soilders have their jackets open and they are not the same as the one u posted and look more like karate jackets. It was the same thing in KICK-ASS. The left lapel on the one you posted is too wide. Also it has a yellow trim. The higher-ups have differnt jackets than the rank and file. Think I am just going to dye a white one. Anyone who has ever dyed anything have any pointers?

they do look a lot like karate gi jackets but i think they are dressing gowns...they just look the wrong shape for karate gi...unless of course this is a different 70's pattern gi but i doubt it

(the riffs have same colour dressing gown belts/ties in the middle)...

tips on dying...put the dye into the bath first and mix...if you do it the other way round it sometimes leaves a spotty finish where the powder mixes with the water...and don't scrunch up the jacket to fit it into a bucket cos it may go tie/dye streaky...

Bought a karate jacket (no need to continue the debate) for $1.99 off of eBay. I got a pack of RED RED & BRIGHT YELLOW TINTEX so I can mix my own color orange (it is a dark reddish orange). I'll post pics of my progress. Looks like I might have another replica costume in the works.
