Hungry hungry hippos is a classic. It's just as much fun spectating when watching the facial expressions of overly competative relatives. They should issue this game in all anger managment sessions.

1. Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Mega Drive/Genesis)
- The pinnacle of the series. Superb adventure with stages that remain fun to explore, and a fitting end to the "true" Sonic era.

2. Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)
- The blueprint for all 3D platform adventures that followed, and still unbeaten, narrowly edging out Galaxy with its longevity.

3. The Warriors (PlayStation 2/Xbox)
- Everyone here knows what makes this game great. The best film-to-game conversion of all time, immersive atmosphere, and just a heck of a lot of fun.

4. Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360/PlayStation 3)
- A fantastic sandbox game with an emotionally mature story and stunning graphics. You can pick up the controller and lose hours messing around in Liberty City without even starting a mission.

5. Shenmue II (Xbox)
- A second installment in the most ambitious game of its time, with characters and settings that draw you in. Let down only by QTEs.

6. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (Nintendo DS)
- An evolution of the 2D GTA series, adding elements of the 3D games to create the ultimate pick-up-and-play addiction.

7. Sonic The Hedgehog (Master System)
- Shut up. This game introduced me to consoles and partially defined my childhood. Many aspects of this 8-bit version go unappreciated by those brought up on the Mega Drive/Genesis.

8. Portal (Xbox 360)
- The rarest of things in modern gaming: originality. A revolutionary concept carried out to perfection, with wonderful humour to boot.

9. Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright: Trials And Tribulations (Nintendo DS/Game Boy Advance)
- For my money, the best story in a great series. From the art to the music to the cases themselves, it's dripping with personality. But don't jump straight to this one, play the games in order.

10. WWE SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain (PlayStation 2)
- Retained a lot of No Mercy's traits before the rot truly set in with each subsequent update. Good, smash-mouth wrestling fun.

Honourable mentions: Yakuza 2, Fable II, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Omikron: The Nomad Soul, Banjo-Kazooie.

And holy potato, the sequel's even better. I've been playing it all weekend. (Who needs sunshine?)

my top10 favourite games has to be:

the warriors- erm obviously why its amazing and was based off one of the best movies of all time

gta iv- a graphically fun game and just has a really good storyline

bully- amazing, funny school-romp that will have you playing for hours and hours

gta san andreas- great character, immense story, massive open-world gameplay and a great game

assassins creed- very factual storyline, very dark, bit of a sci-fi game with the animus thingy, brilliant characters and very amazing free-runniing features in this game

assassins creed 2 - excellent build-up of the 1st game and good history behind ezio( the main character of AC2) and set in a great time-period

super mario bro''s(all versions) - great platform character, great story and fun gameplay

big little planet( 1 and 2) - fun and crazy platforming game and has cool mini-games and makes you really think about what to do next and built on great creativity!!
