I'm not sure whats left of that part of coney where luthers car comes around the corner, as some of the stalls were set on fire last year. Up until the fire, the place was still recognisable. There's footage of the fire on youtube.

With regards to safety in NYC I went there in 2008 and I thought that the Police presence on the streets is much better in the UK. I never got to Coney Island but on the Saturday that I was there after having breakfast near Rockefeller Plaza me and my wife got onto Broadway and walked to Battery Park to catch the Statten Island ferry. It was a fair distance to walk but I never felt unsafe that day or any other day that I was there. It's a great city to visit with plenty of characters, I'm planning another trip in 2012 which will include a trip to Coney Island.

Did you mean to say that the polic presense is much better in the UK, or did you mean much better than the UK?

I went to NYC back in 2000 but we spent the whole time in Manhatten for the few days we were there, although we covered at lot of places there, we also walked the length of Broadway which took a while but was good, we did it the opposite way from Battery Park up to mid town.

I always felt safe in the time I was there but I was with two of my mates and it was only Manhatten. I suppose it's different if your only with a girlfriend/wife like I will be this time, plus it's the venturing into residential areas outside Manhatten, I am expecting that these places will be a little less predictable.

I am happy with what I have read here though, sounds like it will be fine.

This is NY. People won't even look twice at you. On;y thing you might get is; "Hey nice FURIES jerz!" or some WARRIORS reference. It's not like someone will think your from an actual gang.
