is the movie any good and what is it about

Yes it is good. It is a gang movie but these gangs are realistically VERY racially divided.
The Wanderers are an Italian gang and they are having trouble with the Baldies, and a black gang, whose name escapes me right now.
Baldies of course all have shaved heads and are led by Terror, who is a hugely built guy.

Perry is new in town and he is built muscular, almost as big as Terror only not fat. And is about the only one not scared of him.
He just moved to the neighborhood, and meets a couple of other Italian kids who are members and get him involved. Ken Wahl stars as a the leader of the Wanderers.

It is good.
The whole thing leads up to a big supposed fight/football game between the Italians and the Blacks---and then there is an added threat that causes them to team up against it.

"I'm A Wanderer" is one of the theme songs, hence the name of the gang/movie. AND an aspect I really enjoyed about this one, is how the older blacks/Italians start teaching the kids about negotiating for possible advantages/profit instead of just fighting to waste time. As in the old guys are all BETTING on the outcome of this football game. It is interesting.

Yeah, is a good movie along with Lords of Flatbush. I saw these two in a drive-in, too bad those hardly exist. Ahhhh, those were the good ol' days. Cheesy image, bad sound, but good ol' American fun.

Yea, I taped the Wanderers off tv one night, and I just bought Lords of Flatbush on ebay a few months ago.

yep i gotta say im ITALIAN and growing up wed all watch the wanderers and call eachother with the whistle ,sad but true lol,it was a good movie but the warriors is my number one ..............

the Lords of Flatbush is the first movie Slyvester Stalone had a starring role in.
He is in a neighborhood gang of 4 guys, they all wear black leather jackets with
Lords of Flatbush printed on the back. Sly is Stanley, Henry Winkler is another one, Butchy
And Perry King is the third, Chico and Wimpy-Paul Mace
They are seniors in HS and maturity, getting on with life is looming up on them, but they just really want to have fun and goof around.
Stan has a girlfriend, local neighborhood girl.
Chico falls for the "new girl"--who is way above him in society and he can't help it. Butchy is the smart one, who knows there is more, just isn't ready to give up where he is now--to get better up in the world.
they hang out at corner diner.
Have some disagreements with other gang type kids
wrestle with each other---and love and fight with their women.

It is one of the original "coming of age" movies. It is good too. One of those---I remember that-when you have finally lived through it, and think back.
