Well, I ifrst wanted to see Serenity because so many people from Buffy and Angel had been on Firefly (Adam Baldwin, Gina Torres, Nathan Fillion) and when I came out of the theater, I turned ot my dad and said "Okay, we're buying Firefly, right now." We didn't buy it right then, but I got it for Christmas. I loved the movie because it was funny, touching, and made me want to go out and change the world (they really need and Oscar category for movies like that). Also, you get to see Nathan Fillon shirtless, so I loved it. I also liked the Romero-esque parallels of the movie, mostly in how the Reavers were created: by man's over-consumption.

Hey all.
I just saw Trash (the unaired one), and that one was pretty good.
And I still need to see the whole movie, I just saw the part before the battle.
I was dissapointed Wash died, and Mr. Universe.

When I have more time, I'll watch the series from the beginning , as well as the movie.

Great thread by the way.

yeah I was surprised they killed off Wash.

Though I thought that the direction was nothing spectacular, and the script was a bit too naive (the "bad guys" of the real world aren't going to "see the error in their ways"), if there's one thing that really got me was that I was really scared that all of the characters would die. I mean really, take when Simon got shot for instance, I had no idea that was coming. I did like the deleted scene with the Operative and Mal as the Operative talks about how he's lost the will to go on, and it draws some paralells between him and Mal (post-Battle of Serenity Valley).

Oh and I think that Book was an Operative, or something to that idea because maybe something like that ws planed for the show, and excuse any racism you may see in this, the operative is black, therefore I assumed that he is directly drawn from what the creators saw the young Book as (as we know he's black too). So they didn't really create a new character, they just got a new actor.

Am I the only one here who saw the show before the movie?

But anyways I hated all the one-liners in the film. Bleh. Good movie overlal though.

I actually saw some episodes before the movie came out, I saw 'em with my parents, but not all of the episodes.
I also would've liked to seen what Reverend's story was.

Also, today I saw Fun with Dick and Jane, and I think Baldwin (Jane, or Jayne) was in it.

I'm a quote freak, so here are some of my favorite quotes:

-Mal: Define interesting.
Wash: Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die?

-Simon: It's okay to leave them to die. (just the delivery of it, and the context....)

-Mal: The leg is good. It'll bleed plenty and we avoid any necessary organs.
Guard: I was thinking more of a graze.
Mal: No, you don't want it to look like you just gave up. (Shooting people for dummies, by Malcolm Reynolds.)

-Jayne: I'll kill a man in a fair fight. Or if I think he's gonna start a fair fight.

-Kaylee: And don't ride in anything with a capissen 38 engine, they just fall right out of the sky. (I just love Kaylee.....)

-Book: When I talk about belief, why do you always assume I'm talking about god? (One of the few serious quotes that I love)

-Inara: ...And that's not incense. (Finally, Inara gets to kick some butt)

I really liked Mr. Universe, he was one of my faavorite characters, I wa surprised that they didn't really show him in the series; I think they mention him once.

The movie: "FASTER! FASTER WOULD BE BETTER!!" --Mal

"How much ammo we got left?"
"Just three clips and my swingin' cod." -- Jayne

The outtake of the crew in the cockpit during the space battle is the best -- "GET OUT OF THE WAYYYYY!!!!"

Our Mrs. Reynolds: : "Someone tries to kill you, you try to kill 'em right back. You have the same right, just like anyone else,to live and kill people." -- Mal

*gives that trademark Jayne stare* "I'll be in my bunk......"

Serenity is actually one of THE best movies of 2005...it was voted #1 of film review 2005. I'd never seen Firefly until I saw Serenity but i'm totally addicted to it now...it didn't get the reviews it deserved at the time but the whole thing was completely ace!!!!!
we see the water and we figure we're home...we're safe
