Game Of Death
Game Of Death
One of my favorite Bruce Lee films. Although not finished, the film looked promising. I am a bit confused though, in the documentary they mention that Kareem's level was the last one. But then in the film after Bruce has slapped Kareem for a while he says: "Look, why do you just let me pass". I do see another set of stairs which of course he doesn't climb. Instead he walks back and stars walking down the stairs. Hmmmmm!

Re: Game Of Death
There are different versions of the film. IF U WANT TO JUST WATCH WHAT I AM SAYIN GO TO THE LINKS BELOW, OTHERWISE READ ON... I think in the original Kareem (Hakim) responds to his question as to why he doesn't let him pass is because Kareem also is not afraid of death. Lee ends up killing him and then another guy comes down with a walking stick or something with a blade on the end. Bruce Lee Kick this guys ass and then DOES go up the stairs to find an old guy dead at a desk, but it is a fake old man made out of wax. The real old man is hiding behind glass and Lee figures this out and goes after him by jump kicking through the glass. In the en the old guy fall off the side of the building.

Your definatley right Lions. They main scenes that Bruce did film, were very promosing. The thing aout Mr. Lee, was that these certain secenes were meant to all tell a certain philosophical story. Its just a shame it was finished, now imagine what his image and message would have been if it were finished.

Bruce Lee: A Warriors Journey..

Here is a quick run-down on the DVD
Bruce Lee's life, philosophy, and final film are examined in this reverent documentary, which traces the master's path through the development of his own style, his battles with mainstream Hollywood and martial arts traditionalists, and his emergence as the world's top box-office draw. Just as interesting as Lee's life is the chance to see lost footage from The Game of Death, Lee's final, unfinished film. Outtakes offer the opportunity to see Lee's perfectionism in action, and the reconstructed storyline reveals how Lee's personal martial arts philosophy shaped the film. And yes, there is a spectacular nunchakau fight. Interviews with Lee and those close to him highlight his energy, intelligence, and remarkable charisma. Fans of Lee will welcome this new insight into his filmmaking, and those unfamiliar with his life and work will come away with a new respect. The DVD includes a Lee filmography, the theatrical trailer for The Game of Death, and audio commentary by the director.
The first half of the film explores Bruce Lee's background and evolution in martial arts, from his beginnings in traditional kung fu to the development of Jeet Kune Do. Included in this half of the film is some never before seen footage of Bruce Lee in training and in demonstrations, excerpts of an interview with the master, along with some interviews with some of the important people in his life. Along with this is a brief chronicling of his journey into superstardom, culminating in an explanation of how Bruce Lee intended Game of Death to be seen through the reviews of Bruce Lee's very own notes on the film. From his notes, the lost footage of Game of Death was skillfully put together for the conclusion of this DVD.
The second half of this film, the conclusion, is where the never before seen footage of Bruce Lee's Game of Death is shown. Needless to say, the master's original vision of this film was fantastic, and had he completed this movie, it definitely would've been his best. And although Hong Kong martial arts films today have evolved so much since the time Bruce Lee came on the scene, the fight scenes choreographed and filmed by Bruce Lee still stand up as being some of the best fight sequences ever filmed.
Also, for those of you who are film buffs, you'll be delighted to know that although the majority of the DVD is shown in full screen, the original Game of Death footage on this DVD has been presented in the original widescreen format. So although the disc jacket says this film is in full screen, only the documentary portion is. The Game of Death footage, which I bought the DVD for (and what I know most of you will be buying this DVD for), is preserved and shown the way it was meant to be seen.
So what are you waiting for? All you Bruce Lee fans, get this DVD!!! And all of you martial arts fans, buy this DVD!!! You won't be disappointed!!! Long live the master! Long live the Dragon! Long live Bruce Lee!

Re: Game Of Death
In the dvd i own (hong kong legends label) Theres a bonus disc with the 40 minute original footage. bruce defeats kareems charecter by peicing all the paper windows to let the sunlight in, as kareems charector suffers from a condition where his naked eye can not withstand sunlight, hence the shades. After Kareem is defeated, a voice from outside taunts bruce. It ends with bruce walking away from the window.

I have this 'T', it was part of my Enter The Dragon box set. Saw it a couple of months ago, barely. It's a shame, it could of been a good movie if Mr. Lee had finished it.

After reading your comments,You have me rethinking about this documentary,
and the levels that the movie would have included, and how he was going
to incorporate his opponents styles into his own, that having no styles at all,
MY GOD,what a movie this would have been..
And in so many ways,if he would have completed this film,
it would have been revolutionary, and at the same time,
it would have made him a Mega-STAR!!!!!,and like Bruce Lee said
"By 1980,he will be the highest paid chinese star in the World"..and Most Important,LIONS....????
And let not forget also, the knowledge that he would have accumilated,
after his age of 32?? and let's not forget as well,
If he were alive, and after The success of
Enter The Dragon, imagine the ideas he would have incorporated
into The Game of Death after filming Enter The Dragon? :-k
Imagine if Bruce Lee had lived and decided,to have made a sequel,to this film,
OMG..Imagine it...
[glow=red,2,300]The Game of Death 2[/glow]
Brother,Imagine The Movie Poster.. "Anyone with Photoshop can create this" <--Surprise me
And sticking to the same elements and adding more??
Giving even more depth to his opponents,
and incorporating contradictary Styles of Martial Arts
and Hand to Hand Combat..

Having rematches with his opponents in the first film?

Imagine,the montages..and the Music?..
Or Maybe have Brandon Lee come into The Mix?
The Possibility would have been endless..

Bring on The Comments....Bruce Lee Fans..

Re: Game Of Death
Well there was a Game of death 2 that came out in the early eighties. It also goes by the name "tower of death". Before it was made, the producers were told that they would have access to unseen bruce lee footage from enter the dragon that they can use for game of death 2. It turned out it wasnt any action scenes, it was the part were bruce is talking philosophy with the shaolin monk, which has now been reincoporated into the newer "enter the dragon" dvd's.
Next time you watch game of death, look out for the scene near the beggining when replacement bruce goes into his trailer and they super-impose a picture of bruce lee on top of his face.
check out a film called "enter the game of death" Its another low budget kung fu flick that cash's in on the franchise and takes on the tower scene. In one level "bruce" has to take on an opponent that uses live snakes as nunchaku's. I kid you not. Bolo yeung also has a part in the film.
Slightly off topic, what are members favourite western names for chinese actors? ie Bronson lee, Conan lee etc. My personal favourites.... Chick Norris and Elton Chong.

No one knew that CGI,would come this far,Hell, they are even trying to do
something that is beyond CGI..? It's sick, and yet exciting at the same time.. 8)
It opens so many doors, and so many possibility's
Right now I pray that The new Indiana Jones movie
does not go into the CGI realm..
